Chief Correspondent, Mexico and Central America

Reuters is looking for a top-notch reporter todo enterprise journalism in Mexico and lead our coverage of major news stories.

With Donald Trump disrupting bilateralrelations and a presidential election looming next year in which Mexico's ownmaverick populist is seeking to shake up the system, there has rarely been amore exciting moment to report from the region. The international spotlightwill focus closely on Mexico over the coming year as it wrestles with Trump'sgovernment over the trade and immigration issues that the U.S. president hasplaced at the heart of his agenda. Mexico's government must also tackle risingdrug violence and a sputtering economy as it seeks to defuse popular discontentahead of next year`s presidential polls.

The chief correspondent job is designed toprovide the freedom to dive deep into the biggest stories, from the NAFTAtalks, to corruption and the liberalization of Mexico's energy sector, andtransnational crime networks. The successful candidate will be an accomplishedwriter and editor, with a proven track record of landing exclusives anddelivering in-depth investigative pieces.

Based in Mexico City, the successful candidatewill be part of the Mexico bureau leadership team and will work closely withthe Latin America enterprise editor and stringers across the region.

Good Spanish is essential.
