Brazil Correspondent

We are seeking a talented reporter to join our busy Brasilia newsroom to help coverage of policymaking amid one of the most turbulent moments in Brazil's modern history. The successful candidate will form part of our team of correspondents tracking the efforts of President Michel Temer's government to revive Latin America's largest economy from its worst recession on record, in the midst of a spreading corruption investigation that threatens to swamp Brazil's political class and wreck the ruling coalition as it pursues an unpopular austerity programme. This reporter will be responsible in particular for covering the laws and regulation governing Brazil's mighty energy, mining and agricultural sectors that form the backbone of its economy and influence commodities prices around the world. However, with the Car Wash corruption investigation reaching the corridors of power in Brasilia and elections approaching next year, we need a strong all-round journalist and a team player with the ability to help with everything from central bank data to nuances of Supreme Court rulings. The successful candidate will be a dynamic reporter, with a proven track record of developing sources and breaking news, as well as talented writer, with the ability to bring complex stories to life for the general reader.
