We are looking for an experienced, dynamic and intrepid reporter to drive coverage of financial regulation and enforcement from Hong Kong. The position sits at the core of our financial services team and this reporter will be critical to ensuring Reuters is at the cutting edge of subjects that matter for our readers – regulatory change and what it means, but also white-collar crime, market manipulation and money laundering at a time when the health of Asia's stock markets is in focus, in Hong Kong and beyond.
The successful candidate will be an enterprising self-starter who is able to scoop the competition on the day-to-day and provide swift analysis on breaking news, but also to balance that with deeper reporting efforts that could stretch from India's pools of black money to the questionable origins of cash in the coffers of Singapore's wealth managers.
As a member of the broader regional Asia finance team, we expect the reporter to work closely with M&A, IPO and banking colleagues in Hong Kong, as well as reporters across the region.
We require a deep interest in all aspects of the financial system and how it works, exceptional writing, strong sourcing and the ability to work in a diverse team, across countries and regions. Asian languages are an advantage, but not a requirement.
- Minimum five years' experience covering financial news or regulation
- Good knowledge of financial regulation and enforcement
- Strong sourcing or a proven ability to source up quickly
- A solid background in breaking exclusive news and writing enterprising stories
- Demonstrable experience of producing multimedia content
- A team player who can collaborate across asset classes and borders
- Multimedia experience is a plus
