Job Description

The Head of the Washington Post Brand Studio will lead the group within The Washington Post client solutions team responsible for the creative work that we do on behalf of brands as well as across internal divisions within The Post. The ideal candidate will bring 10-15+ years' experience working across disciplines at an advertising agency, brand or brand studio. 

Responsibilities:
•    Inspire, direct, and motivate a team of highly talented designers, content strategists, editors, engineers and video producers in creating breakthrough creative work
•    Scale the studio model by managing, mentoring, developing, and recruiting top creative talent
•    Employ a managing director mindset to drive business strategies and position the Studio for long-term success
•    Lead efforts to develop and deploy creative campaigns across all media channels
•    Refine and lead The Washington Post Brand Studio vision, mission, and culture development
•    Work in partnership with marketing leadership to set the vision for the creative approach, innovation and excellent in execution
•    Lead client facing presentations to pitch programs as well as creative thought leadership
•    Represent the Studio at industry events as well as in the trade press
•    Drive internal awareness of design trends, advertising technologies, innovative media, and shifts in pop culture to ensure the creation of relevant and useful products, messages, or branding
•    Help the studio champion bold, transformative ideas and tether them to strategy
•    Anticipate the future direction of the industry using both research and own insight and bring the company into the fore of that trajectory

Requirements:
•    A portfolio of award-winning work from successful design programs and advertising campaigns
•    Your right brain loves creativity and design in all of its forms, while your left brain loves finding simple solutions to complex challenges
•    10+ years of experience working in a creative field, with a focus on marketing, advertising, branding, or communications
•    A high level of visual literacy/understanding of typography, illustration, color theory, and photography
•    Proven ability to be a conceptual leader with a deep understanding of copy, immersive storytelling, and the photography and film production processes 
•    An entrepreneurial spirit and a communication style that inspires others and extinguishes conflict
•    Travel is required for this role (25+%)
