The Hartford's Corp IT Team is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented and results-driven Software Engineer (Remote/Hybrid) to build and support various invest & maintenance assignments. He/She will have end-to-end accountabilities across Operational Risk Management systems.



Successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate strong technical leadership skills, excellent partnership with stakeholders and partner teams, willingness to understand/adhere to existing processes and standards, solid technical acumen, experience in delivering quality technical solutions and ability to deliver high-quality solutions while ensuring systems are stable, performant, and secure.

Primary responsibilities of the position are the following:

  • Responsible for End-to-End solution (designing, building and maintenance) involving multiple platforms and business solutions using Java, Spring, Spring Boot, Spring integrations.
  • Possess emerging AWS Cloud skills to successfully migrate some existing integrations to Lambda.
  • Provide technical leadership in Scrum Teams by enforcing the vision of the application architecture and safeguard the integrity of the application environment, in alliance with architects and other tech leads
  • Function as the go-to technical leader for the software applications supported, requiring depth and breadth of knowledge in technologies, applications, integration, interfaces and business domain
  • Understand and implement the overall technical vision for projects, programs, or systems, keeping in mind cross-functional impacts, integration across the organization and architecture rationalization
  • Proactively address technical issues and risks that could impact schedule and/or budget
  • Collaboration with teams to identify opportunities for integration across tools used in the lifecycle, including agile, test automation, platform configuration management, and drive efficiencies.
  • Mentor team members (including Sourcing Partners) to enforce development guidelines and best practices
  • Work closely with stakeholders to design and document automation solutions that align with the business needs and consistent with the architectural vision
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • High level of independence but is also a team player
  • Ability to provide concise, transparent communications about potential risks, mitigations and business impacts in a timely manner.
  • Build and implement capabilities for continuous integration and continuous delivery aligned with Enterprise DevOps practices.
  • Ability to understand technology trade off risks and rewards for the best customer value delivery.

Takes ownership to drive innovation for effectively leveraging technology to solve the customer problem.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in application software solution development and execution skills using evolving architecture-based solutions like Cloud, SaaS, and integration frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience with Java and J2EE technologies, such as, Java Web Services, XML, JSON, JDBC etc. Experience with general purpose programming languages such as Python is beneficial
  • 1+ year of experience with containerization and experience in cloud infrastructure environments such as Cloud and various AWS resources like Lambda, ECS, Fargate, Cloud Formation, Terraform, Route 53, S3, Load Balancing, SQS and SNS..
  • 3+ years' experience in building API/Web Services (SOAP and Rest), Springboot, Spring, JPA etc.
  • 2+ years' experience in writing automation for APIs using Karate and JUnit
  • Experience with one or more relational database technologies such as SQL Server and Oracle. Knowledge of open-source database technologies is beneficial
  • Experience in deploying the application with Application Servers and Web Servers.
  • Experience with continuous integration and DevOps methodologies, preferred tools such as GitHub, Jenkins, Rally, SonarQube etc.
  • Familiar with Agile methodology

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$83,440 - $125,160
