You will have a real impact on our business and technology. Our MLC IT Team is looking for a detail-oriented, results-driven Full Stack Lead Developer who is ready for a challenge! Joining members of a cross functional team, collaborating & leading across multiple teams, working closely with our business partners in supporting their initiatives within an agile environment. You will be asked to make decisions quickly in consultation with team members while building strong relationships, actively participating in teamwork, and developing an understanding of the dynamics and critical nature of the business.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform hands-on front-end, back-end, and test automation development work.
  • Solicit, understand and document technical requirements to meet business objectives.
  • Design, test, develop, deploy, maintain, and improve software assets and ensure high quality code conforms to The Hartford coding standards and industry best practices.
  • Work closely as a member of a Scrum team, partnering with business & product management teams, contributing towards the team's goals of improving our Agile delivery, Dev Ops practices, and improving overall quality of our delivered code.
  • Mentoring junior & mid-career engineers
  • Technical leadership around hiring & driving culture at a product level.
  • Enhance and extend the User Interface of our in-house applications.
  • Advocate for code reusability across multiple products and have the ability to span the full-stack whenever necessary.
  • Proactively identify, analyze/research and address technical issues/defects along with risks that could impact projects, enhancements or an applications stability and provide solutions to quickly resolve them.
  • Responsible for technical deliverables through the software development lifecycle, including the validation of the completeness of estimates, quality and the accuracy of technical designs, build deployment and implementation.
  • Develop technical documentations for various project deliverables and phases.
  • Willingness and proven ability to learn new technologies/methodologies and apply them.
  • Writing tests that are automatable and can provide broad coverage of implemented functionality.
  • Contribute to enterprise & LOB level initiatives, manage Cloud accounts, promote best practices, propose & drive Cloud-first solutions.
  • Partner with architecture teams to influence and implement the vision of the application architecture and safeguard the integrity of the application environment, influence Cloud strategy.
  • Accountable for a large-scale software product. Drive End-to-End solution delivery involving multiple platforms and technologies with medium to large, complexity or oversee certain parts of very large complex implementations.
  • Strategic thinking to influence business priorities
  • Articulate risks and tradeoffs of technology solutions to senior leaders with translations as needed for business leaders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline with a minimum of 7+ years of work experience in IT systems analysis and application program development
  • Hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot (Data, Logging, Validation, Web), Swagger, and JUnit is required.
  • Hands-on experience with Angular, JavaScript, CSS, JSON, and Restful APIs
  • Experience with designing Cloud applications enforcing Security best practices, AWS Well Architected Framework etc. required.
  • Experience with relational databases required.
  • Experience with continuous integration and DevOps methodologies, best practices and tools such as GitHub, Jenkins and UDeploy , CI/CD concepts & tooling

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in writing automation for APIs using Karate and Gatling is nice to have.
  • Experience with AWS services (ECS, Lambda, SQS, RDS, CloudWatch, API Gateway, Service Catalog etc.) is nice to have

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$123,120 - $184,680
