Job Description:
The Hartford's Information Protection (THIP) organization is looking for a talented Senior Information Security Specialist to join a high-performing team of cyber professionals. Our Firewall Services team provides direct support to our business areas by delivering valued consulting services for security requirements, mapping of application network requirements to the firewall rules, supporting the firewall systems and associated technologies, performing bi-annual recertification. These security experts are responsible for governing, managing, and delivering on The Hartford's edge security practices.
The individual will help to shape the direction of our company's edge security programs through collaborative thought leadership, professional support, and technical expertise. In addition, this individual will provide insight regarding security domains, industry standards, government regulations and track emerging cyber threats. They will work closely with other areas of Information Security, network teams and the business to provide insight regarding the appropriate application of security controls, and interface with business segments and vendor partners to understand their connectivity requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position is responsible for performing the following:
Technical expert for implementing, managing, and supporting our cloud-based edge security designs. Automation support for the team in developing a zero-touch administration/provisioning model. This includes rule management, logging, provisioning, auditing, and monitoring and includes technologies such as Check Point, Palo Alto, and AlgoSec plus the integration with platforms such as Service Now, Akamai and Splunk. Support the technical design, implementation and operational support of firewall and related technologies in both on-premises data center and cloud-hosted deployments. Consult with business, application teams, and vendor partners to assist on network connectivity dependencies and authorizations across the company's edge security systems.
*Requires an off hour on call rotation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates will be evaluated based on their ability to perform the duties listed above while demonstrating the skills and competencies necessary to be highly effective in the role. These skills and competencies include:
- A broad and diverse technical background.
- Automation and development experience with tools such as Powershell, C#, Python, etc
- Experience working tools such as CloudFormation, Terraform, GitHub to deploy AWS solutions.
- Well-versed in network firewall technology and policies.
- Strong knowledge of network ports and protocols
- Track record in production support / system support activities.
- Strong decision-making capabilities, with a proven ability to weigh the relative costs and benefits of potential actions and identify the most appropriate actions.
- Confidence to effectively influence others to modify their opinions, plans, or behaviors.
- Excellent prioritization capabilities, with an aptitude for breaking down work into manageable parts, effectively assessing the priority and time required to complete each part.
- Organizational skills that enables the prioritization and balancing of several tasks simultaneously, providing management with appropriate insight into the workload and priorities.
- Original and innovative thinking that produces new ideas and creates innovative solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement process improvement initiatives.
- A successful candidate will possess some or all the following background and experiences:
- BS or MA in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Security, or experience in related field.
Preferred:
AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional; 2+ years of experience.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$109,760 - $164,640
