The Hartford's Cloud Services organization is seeking a Director - Cloud Solutions Architect to be responsible for modernizing and simplifying our cloud technology portfolio. This role provides strategic direction, evaluates solutions, and executes proof of concepts for solutions to aide our cloud journey. You will work alongside enterprise architects, cloud engineers, developers, and security teams to ensure program goals and objectives are and remain aligned to the strategic direction of the program. This role collaborates with leaders and stakeholders across IT and the business to ensure proper coordination and execution of activities.

This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement. Candidates who live near one of our office locations will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday) Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise.
Candidate must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship. The company will not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement for this position.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for designing and proving out technology solutions for fit into our Cloud Services portfolio of cloud products, tools, and services.
- Execute proof of concepts in partnership with engineering and security teams to validate proposed designs and solutions for fit into Hartford's cloud environment.
- Conduct continuous research on emerging cloud technologies and recommend technologies that will increase effectiveness in costs, management, and a flexible cloud infrastructure.
- Work closely with application architects, developers, cloud engineers, and application security engineers to identify gaps to remediate and features required in our cloud portfolio.
- The candidate will use his/her technical experience to influence the right level of infrastructure and technology modernization to cloud.
- Will update, advise, and collaborate with senior leadership regarding the ongoing alignment of the cloud services roadmap to the business and technology strategy.
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications; establish and define details, definitions, and requirements of applications, components and enhancements.
- Has strong presentation and collaboration skills and can communicate all aspects of the job requirements, including the creation of formal documentation.
- Display strong customer service orientation, a commitment to professionalism, and an excellent work ethic.
- Identify required granularity to satisfy visibility and control needs while articulating complex schedules and inter-dependencies across engineering teams to clearly communicate to stakeholders.
Qualifications and Work Experience:
- Prior experience with large-scale cloud migration and cloud-native solutions.
- 3+ years proven experience in leading major cloud migration projects to AWS and/or Azure
- 10+ years combined IT experience in Strong Engineering and Execution
- Experience managing large, complex cloud projects of $50M+ to quality, time, and budget.
- Experience in full SDLC project delivery with a variety of methodologies i.e., Agile, Scrum, Kanban
- Proven track record leading executives and influencing others towards a common goal.
- A demonstrated ability to rely heavily on influence over authority to drive deliverables.
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal, and ability to clearly articulate messages
- Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis, problem solving, and troubleshooting capabilities
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$148,320 - $222,480
