Overview

The Director provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for clinical education, student success initiatives, compliance monitoring, and accreditation readiness within the School of Nursing. This role oversees all aspects of the Nursing Resource Center, including the Skills Lab, Simulation Lab, Testing Center, and Computer Lab, ensuring effective budgeting, staffing, compliance, and delivery of supplemental and simulation-based education. The Director develops and sustains clinical placements with community partners; manages NRC operations (budgeting, staffing, scheduling, equipment, and instructional support); leads accreditation readiness and reporting (e.g., CCNE, MA Board of Registration in Nursing, NECHE); coordinates licensure-readiness and testing initiatives (e.g., ATI, TEAS, NCLEX reviews); and oversees adjunct clinical faculty hiring and on-boarding. In collaboration with faculty and campus partners, the Director advances a culturally responsive, equity-minded learning environment consistent with Salem State University's mission and HSI designation.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in nursing (MSN) from an accredited program.
  • Active, unencumbered RN license in good standing.
  • At least 5 years of progressive administrative experience in nursing or health professions education.
  • Minimum of 8 years of recent nursing clinical experience, with a strong background in adult health.
  • Knowledge of clinical education management, placement processes, simulation, compliance regulations, and accreditation standards.
  • Experience with online testing and remediation programs (e.g., ATI, NCLEX prep).
  • Demonstrated leadership, supervisory, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree (DNP or PhD) in Nursing or related field.
  • Supervisory or administrative experience in higher education settings.
  • Experience with CCNE, AACN, and state board accreditation processes and regulatory compliance.
  • Evidence of success in developing clinical placements and working with community healthcare agencies.
  • Experience with securing external funding or grants to support program development.
  • Working Location

    This is an onsite position in Salem, MA with on-campus, in-person responsibilities, which may require occasional work on evenings and weekends.
