What you will do (day in the life):

In this role, you will be a system engineer using Agile development methods within an integrated digital environment. You will work on a critical customer program utilizing proven and innovative systems engineering and analysis principles to determine performance capabilities and potential performance improvements to the GMD system. In this position you will plan, coordinate with team members and the customer, and execute activities in accordance with relevant governing documents. This activity will include coordination and execution among multi-discipline teams and integrated digital platforms.

Boeing Intelligence & Analytics (BI&A) is seeking a Mid-Level Systems Engineer to join the Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Testability (RAM&T) Engineering team located in Huntsville, AL. We are seeking engineers that are motivated by being part of a mission critical program, technical leaders focused on in instilling engineering discipline and rigor, and participating in the digital engineering transformation.

Work Location: Huntsville, AL

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location option s.

As a Mid-Level Systems Engineer on this team you will:

  • Apply an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify a lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions.
  • Evaluate customer/operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces.
  • Perform various analysis to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture.
  • Perform analysis for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success.
  • Develop the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes. Resolves cross-functional technical issues.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of root cause analysis and corrective action of non-conformances to reduce scrap, minimize rework, reduce cost and improve quality to meet all requirements. Knowledge of the process for producing product definition data including emergent design changes.
  • Ability to analyze problems (troubleshooting, fault isolation, repair, modification, or redesign) of assigned end items to support the design, development and modification of company products using knowledge of engineering disciplines (ME, EE, etc.).
  • Knowledge of Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), including system, sub-system, functional (electrical/mechanical), component and device level.
  • Knowledge of reliability analyses including mission reliability requirements/performance parameters, mean time between failure, schedule reliability, guarantees and warranties, system/subsystem block diagramming, function flows, predictions, allocations, redundancy modeling, verification/validation, reliability planning, procedure/process development, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and reliability testing/growth.
This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship as a condition of employment. ( An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Pre-Start is required.)

Desired Experience:
  • GMD or Missile Defense program experience
  • Knowledge of techniques to help identify a customer's organization, capabilities, practices, support resources, preferences, problems, and other constraints in order to provide effective product support and technical issue resolution.
  • Knowledge of maintainability and availability analyses including maintenance task time estimation, timeline analysis, maintainability prediction and allocations, maintenance and servicing procedures, fault detection/fault isolation, accessibility, tools and ground support/test equipment requirements identification. Knowledge of maintenance plan and concept development, failure modes, condition monitoring, repair schemes, preventive/scheduled maintenance inspections. Knowledge of Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) processes, and modeling.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to review large amounts of data and identify root cause and recommend solutions
  • Utilization of Digital Engineering environment
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, must be able to work independently and will possess the poise and flexibility required to work in a highly dynamic environment
Required Education:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
