The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Software Engineering Manager to join the Phantom Work Program located in Berkeley, MO. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.

This individual will be responsible for leading and managing a team of Software Engineers that develop software for advanced Programs using a Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) DevSecOps software build pipeline. The manager will oversee a software development effort that uses an agile methodology focused on code quality, security and automation. The manager is responsible for managing overall team execution (technical, cost, and schedule) of current projects but will also support new business proposals and have regular communication with a broad range of external customers, supplier and support organizations.

An ideal candidate has a strong technical background and knowledge of software development and can lead integrated development efforts. The ability to package complex technical topics into clear and concise written and oral mediums and effectively deliver them to Boeing executive leadership and all levels of customer program management is required.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Manages employees performing engineering and technical activities in the area of Software Engineering.
  • Develops and executes project and process plans, implements policies and procedures and sets operational goals
  • Acquires resources for projects and processes, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with industry partners, customers, stakeholders, peers, and direct reports.

Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements:

This position requires an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
  • Minimum of 3 years previous management experience that included directly managing staff.
  • Requires an active Secret Security Clearance
  • Bachelor's or Masters of Science degree from an accredited course of study in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer / Information Science.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • An active Top - Secret Security Clearance
  • Background in Mission Systems and related software engineering development activities
  • 3+ years of experience in supporting software engineering projects that use a form of Agile Software Development.
  • Previous experience managing performance of internally funded IRAD projects.
  • Experience with DevSecOps Software Development processes including the use of software containers, cloud native development including container orchestration.
  • Experience leading multiple parallel development schedules and interfacing directly with suppliers
  • Previous experience supporting formal proposal activities.
  • Experience interfacing with senior and executive leadership
  • Strong communication skills - written/verbal

Summary pay range: $154,700.00 - $209,300.00
