The Boeing Company is hiring for a Mechanical Systems Design and Analysis Engineer (Mid-Level or Senior) to join the Boeing Test and Evaluation Design/Build team in San Antonio TX.

As part of the BT&E Design/Build organization, the Mechanical Systems Design and Analysis Engineer is responsible for defining engineering to modify commercial, commercial derivative and military aircraft for flight test purpose. In addition, the engineer is also responsible for providing liaison engineering support during aircraft build phase.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Leads the development and documentation of flight test instrumentation and support designs
  • Leads the development, maintenance or modification of system, component and installation designs/proposals to provide design documentation to downstream groups
  • Performs and documents analyses to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications
  • Contributes to supplier development, test and production activities and directs the supplier to optimize integration and achieve program goals
  • Provide on-site liaison engineering support during aircraft build, test execution and refurbishment phase of the flight test program
  • Supports system components' designs/proposals standards to provide installation and detail documentation
  • Mentor and knowledge shares early career engineers

This position allows limited telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform work onsite at one of the listed location options.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • 3+ years of experience with engineering and design software (i.e. CAD/3D packages (CATIA, UG/NX, SolidWorks, CREO, etc.)
  • 3+ years of experience working conceptual, preliminary and detailed design including 2D drawings and 3D deliverables

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams, a strong desire to work with technical and non-technical audiences, and be a self-starter
  • Experience providing liaison engineering support on large scale aerospace products
  • Experience in Test and Evaluation Engineering

Typical Education/Experience:

Level 3 - (Mid-Level)

Bachelor's degree and typically 5 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a Master's degree with typically 3 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a PhD degree with experience in an engineering classification.

Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Level 4 - (Senior)

Bachelor's degree and typically 9 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a Master's degree with typically 7 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a PhD degree with typically 4 or more years' experience in an engineering classification.

Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range for mid-level: $79,000 - $140,000

Summary pay range for senior: $96,000 - $170,000
