We are seeking a Mid-level or Senior Facilities Plant Controls Engineer to join our Facilities and Asset Management (F&AM) team in North Charleston, South Carolina.

In this role, you will primarily support facilities equipment operations, equipment maintenance, reliability engineering, and production teams. This position solves problems reactive equipment downtime events; develops plans for equipment improvements, including preventative maintenance; integrates with internal and business customers; and leads special projects related to equipment modifications and new asset commissioning.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Evaluates program and project requirements, develops sophisticated equipment concepts and build solutions for buildings and infrastructure
  • Plans, leads, and implements projects; provides maintenance support for the electrical and mechanical phases of buildings, equipment installations, utility systems and grounds
  • Ensures compliance with safety, producibility, maintainability, reliability, ergonomic factors and regulatory requirements
  • Develops and implements work-around and maintains configuration of hardware, software and documentation
  • Develops moderately sophisticated conceptual analysis to understand cause of asset failures and reduction in asset capacity by using reliability tools and methods (e.g., life cycle analysis, condition based maintenance, root cause failure methodology, mean time between failures, fault tree analysis, etc.)
  • Maintains configuration control, conducts reviews, prepares plans for productions readiness, preventative maintenance, and spares
  • Provides recommendations to strategic, short-term, and long-term infrastructure planning; completes studies; analyzes current conditions and future requirements; recommends capital improvements; brings together and analyzes data; and works with both internal and external customers in order to identify and assess alternatives and impacts

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at North Charleston, South Carolina.

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required."U.S. Person" includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • 3+ years of experience with building electrical & mechanical systems
  • 3+ years of experience with troubleshooting programmable logic controllers (PLC)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years of experience maintaining facilities equipment in a manufacturing environment
  • 3+ years of experience with controls software for the following: Allen Bradley, Trane, Honeywell, Siemens, and modifying computer software
  • 3+ years of experience with equipment reliability or machine troubleshooting
  • 3+ years of experience supporting crane systems, building lighting controls, HVAC controls and implementing energy saving projects

Typical Education/Experience:

Mid-Level (Level 3)

Bachelor's degree and typically 5 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a Master's degree with typically 3 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a PhD degree with experience in an engineering classification. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Senior (Level 4)

Bachelor's degree and typically 9 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a Master's degree with typically 7 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a PhD degree with typically 4 or more years' experience in an engineering classification. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary pay range for mid-level: 96,050 - 129,950

Summary pay range for senior level: 107,950 - 146,050
