The Boeing Company is currently seeking an Experienced Real Time Software Engineer - Flight Simulation Labs (Level 3) to join the Flight Simulations Labs' F/A-18 Trainers located in Berkeley, MO. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.

Boeing's Flight Simulations Labs' F/A-18 Trainers team is looking for a Real Time Software Engineer capable of contributing to all phases of the software development lifecycle (requirements, architecture, implementation, and verification.)

This individual will participate in development of F/A-18 avionics software models to be deployed in the US Navy and Royal Australia Air Force Tactical Operational Flight Trainer (TOFT). These are high-fidelity simulators deployed to USN and RAAF air bases to support training of F/A-18E/F and E/A-18G fighter pilots.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Develops, documents and maintains architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems
  • Develops and maintains code and integrates software components into a fully functional software system
  • Develops software verification plans, test procedures and test environments, executing the test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met
  • Performs software project management and software supplier management functions
  • Develops, selects, tailors and deploys software processes, tools and metrics
  • Executes and documents software research and development projects
  • Serves as a subject matter expert for software domains, system-specific issues, processes and regulations
  • Tracks and evaluates software team and supplier performance to ensure product and process conformance to project plans and industry standards
  • Works under general direction

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements:

This position requires the ability to obtain a SECRET U.S. Security Clearance for which the US Government requires U.S. Citizenship. Ability to obtain SECRET U.S. Security clearance (Post-Start).

Required Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
  • Ability to obtain SECRET U.S. Security clearance (Post-Start)
  • Experience with C++ programming
  • Experience with Real-time simulation/modeling
  • Customer focus
  • Strong team player

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Experience with Avionics, especially radar or electronic warfare
  • Experience with MS Windows/Visual Studio
  • Experience with GIT
  • Experience with AGILE development

Typical Education/Experience:
  • Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience)
  • In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard

Travel:

Occasional travel may be required but would be less than 10%.

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. Basic relocation will be offered for eligible internal candidates.
