Boeing Safety, Certification and Airworthiness (SCAW) is currently looking for a Certification Manager to join their team in the Washington Puget Sound area (Everett, WA. Renton WA. Or Tukwila WA.).

This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.

A successful candidate will be able to utilize their understanding of the FAA certification process and leverage previous experience to support the BDS Certification Leader in providing management oversight to the BDS Engineering Unit Member (E-UM) population, ensuring E-UM independence, allocation of E-UM resources, bolstering the E-UM pipeline, and engaging with the program to forecast resource requirements, as well as, provide certification subject matter expertise to the program as required.

Position Responsibilities Include:
  • Manage Boeing E-UMs from multiple disciplines, ensuring that these E-UMs have independence to perform the FAA responsibilities
  • Advocate for the Boeing E-UMs
  • Work with BDS programs to adequately forecast E-UM requirements and hold BDS programs accountable for schedule impacts to the E-UM forecast
  • Allocate E-UM resources across BDS and the Boeing Enterprise to support program E-UM needs
  • Accurately forecast and capture E-UM resource capacity by discipline
  • Bolster the E-UM pipeline
    • Promote becoming an E-UM as an engineering career path
    • Support the BDS Safety and Airworthiness (SAW) and the Program in the identification of E-UM candidates
    • Proactively manage E-UM candidate mentoring and training plans
    • Support the growth of the E-UM technical career path
  • Provide Certification Subject Matter Expertise
  • Demonstrate the Boeing Behaviors in a deliberate and observable way
  • Manage a group of roughly 15-30 direct reports

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering
  • 3+ years of experience in FAA certification
  • 1+ year of experience in a management role with both people and business unit leadership responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Previous first line management experience

Summary pay range: $147,050 - $198,950
