Job Overview

The Industrial Business Unit of TE Connectivity has an opportunity for a Program Manager for the Industrial Systems sub-vertical, as a member of the Product Manufacturing & Value Engineering Team. The Program Manager will own the key product manufacturing strategy and execution of cost out (VAVE) activities for the approx. $100M Motor Connectivity product family and will report to the Head of Product Manufacturing & Value Engineering.

This position manages all product manufacturing and value engineering aspects of a global product line, from driving a program or projects involving manufacturing transfers, manufacturing productivity improvements, material productivity improvements including OV/supplier strategies as well as leading the value engineering pipeline generation, roadmap definition & project execution. This requires the liason with Manufacturing Operations, Procurement, Engineering, Finance and Product Management to ensure that the strategic programs are aligned to achieve defined productivity targets whilst maintaining service and quality levels through partnership with the key stakeholders

The Role

The Program Manager for Motor Connectivity will be responsible for leading strategic program initiatives for the Motor Connectivity product family globally, taking ownership for successful program execution and goal achievement. This person is responsible for the productivity improvements of the product family and will play a pivotal role in driving the strategic direction of the product manufacturing strategy of the product lines to achieve accelerated margin improvement over the next 5 years.

The Program Manager will bring solid manufacturing knowledge, business acumen, excellent project management skills and leadership experience, together a hands-on program leadership style. The role will appeal to those with aspirations for further personal and career growth as the company seeks to further enhance the overall "bench-strength" for succession for roles in Product Manufacturing and/or Manufacturing Operation within the Industrial business unit.

The successful candidate will be part of the global Product Manufacturing & Value Engineering Team and will report to the Head of Product Manufacturing & Value Engineering within the Systems division.

Year 1 success factors

  • Overtake the running of a strategic 5-year manufacturing transformation program aimed productivity improvement on a specific product line to achieve the specific year 1 objectives & targets
  • Create a 5 Year Value Engineering pipeline roadmap in collaboration with Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing Operations and Product Management
  • Implement a robust execution cadence to drive the required results based on strong KPI's follow up
  • Be a focal point of strategic footprint, procurement and manufacturing optimizations to drive gross margin improvements in partnership with the Operations functions
  • Partner with the Engineering team to create and complete a review of the value engineering pipeline and develop a plan to accelerate the execution and implementation of opportunities through alignment with cross functional teams
  • Establish a consistent continuous improvement mind-set across the program teams to drive efficiencies and a culture of continuous improvement in product costing


Responsibilities

Strategy Development
  • Owns the execution of the process for the development of the key manufacturing strategies and productivity / cost-out projects
  • Aligns the product manufacturing strategies for the product lines with product markets and business unit procurement and operations strategies
  • Defines, develops and owns a roadmap for VAVE programs including budget and execution strategies
  • Translates the strategy into a clear project plan to deliver strong financial results
  • Cascades the vision and strategy throughout the organization and creates buy-in from the organization for the plan through early engagement

Project Management: Planning and Execution
  • Act as the focal point for global cost out programs, including the definition, development and organization of large scale cost out programs and projects aligned to the product line and business unit strategy
  • Ensure that individual projects meet the overall material/conversion productivity targets, technical requirements as well as customer expectations and contractual obligations for TE
  • Program and large-scale project ownership - to oversee the initiation, planning, execution and finalization of the individual projects - taking a structured approach to risk management, communication and stakeholder management
  • Identifying and overcoming barriers / roadblocks during the program through proactive management of project interdependencies
  • Identify and organize the project team resources for the execution of the programs - driving and leading the projects by holding the project leaders and teams accountable
  • Engagement with Operations Teams, including Plants and Procurement Teams, to review and maintain an overview of all cost out activities related to the product family, producing accurate and timely reporting
  • Definition, implementation and continuous improvement of cost out processes
  • Responsible for documentation, compliance of quality guidelines, time planning and monitoring

What your background should look like:

  • 10+ years of program / project management with relevant manufacturing operations experience
  • University degree (engineering / business preferred)
  • Project Management qualification a must (PMI preferred)
  • Ability to support occasional travel up to 25% (mainly regional and occasional global)
  • Fluent in English and German both written and spoken is a must
