The Role

We are seeking a results-oriented person to join our Greater Philadelphia Program team, who will support the Program team to meet its ambitious goals, and ensure that we have the operational resources to implement region-wide priorities.

The Associate, Program is responsible for the operations of the Program team, increasing the team's efficacy and effectiveness. This staff member is responsible for providing the regional program team with the data reporting and analysis that is necessary to effectively track progress to goals, reflect upon successes and areas for improvement, and make course adjustments to ensure the team meets its goals. The Associate will also manage team systems and operations, corps member communication (incoming and current) and provide support on the planning and execution of team and small corps member events.

Additionally, the Associate, Program works collaboratively with associates and coordinators across the region's functional teams. This role reports to the Director, School and Regional Partnerships (D,SRP).

The Team

Philadelphia is the birthplace of our nation's democracy and boasts a history of momentous events and admirable leaders. Yet despite centuries of innovation and progress in the city, there is still much work to be done. In the School District of Philadelphia, fewer than 1 in 5 students graduate, enroll in college, and persist even into their second college year. It is clear that not all of Philadelphia's students are getting the education and opportunities they deserve. Since 2003, Teach For America has been working in partnership with schools and community members across Philadelphia to change this reality.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Corps Member Onboarding, Communication and Paperwork (35%)

  • Assist in ensuring that up to 100 incoming corps members each year attain full eligibility to teach in Philadelphia, including leading our regional testing strategy to ensure that every corps member has passed their required certification exams prior to beginning Institute

Participate and support in the onboarding design experience for incoming corps members, alongside the D,SRP and Director, Program Design

  • Serve as the initial first point of contact for corps members with concerns and questions surrounding paperwork, certification and/or placement
  • Compile and distribute the monthly incoming corps member e-mail blast
  • Disseminate corps member blast and other all-corps communication as necessary

Create and disseminate School Partnership Newsletter

  • Update the Teach For America Greater Philadelphia Google Classroom for all Incoming Corps Member Onboarding Requirements
  • Help foster an open, welcoming, student-centered culture in all communications with corps members

Manage AmeriCorps Systems (30%)

  • Create and manage systems to ensure all corps member documentation is completed, submitted, and organized according to AmeriCorps requirements and timelines
  • Ensure all requirements and deadlines are being clearly communicated to corps members
  • Collaborate with regional functional teams, as well as the national AmeriCorps team to ensure the region remains in compliance with state and national requirements
  • Communicate regularly with the Development Team, including participation in weekly AmeriCorps internal meetings and attendance at the PennSERVE Starting Strong training
  • Sending requested materials/paperwork as needed to Development Team for PennSERVE
  • Support PennSERVE audits

Data management, analysis & reporting (20%)

  • Update and maintain corps member information so that the Program Team has accurate and timely data (eg. Certification requirements, placement, retention, AmeriCorps)
  • Provide information and data requests to Program and regional team members
  • Work with the Program team and region to drive strategy to encourage all corps members to complete surveys, and manage any regional modifications to survey content

Managing Program team systems and operations (5%)

  • Manage the logistics of the corps member resource room (checking out resources, maintaining space, etc.)
  • Manage CM office assistants

Administrative and Team support (5%)

  • Assist program team budget process, including tracking expenses, completing the monthly budget forecast, and processing reimbursements for MD, Program and D, SRP
  • Additional special projects as needed

Regional Team Responsibilities (5%)

  • Participate in all-day in-person interviews to help select new corps member/teacher applicants (about 8-10 days total throughout the year along with all other staff members)
  • Staff large-scale regional events such as corps member induction, often times for a whole day or multiple days at a time
  • Attend and participate in all-staff team meetings and retreats

Participate in a regional committee (DEI, Culture, Corps Member and Alumni) - optional



  • Bachelor's degree required

Prior Experience

  • 2-4 years professional work experience
  • Strong proficiency with Excel, Google applications and data management experience


Excellent critical thinking and planning skills

Ability to analyze and synthesize data from a range of sources and present findings in a clear and compelling fashion

  • Demonstrated experience managing workload effectively and following through on execution of logistics
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Exceptional customer service ethic
  • Ability to take initiative and improve systems and processes
  • Ability to shift course and alter approaches and be flexible in assuming responsibilities
