Associate, Development-Part-Time (Cincinnati)
This position will provide critical execution capacity to the regional development director to ensure that our regional development team has outstanding systems to support its work and gold-standard stewardship and appreciation of current local donors to Teach For America. Under the direction and guidance of the development director, this person will conduct donor research, manage the quality of the data in our donor database, prepare outstanding materials for donor meetings taken by the development director or the executive director, and craft a range of stewardship touch points that show donors (in both generalized and differentiated ways) how their investment in Teach For America is making a crucial difference for high poverty children in the region. This person will work approximately 25-30 hours per week, and there is some flexibility as to when those hours take place. The associate will report to the development director for the Southwest Ohio region.
Founded in 2012, Teach For America – Southwest Ohio supports 50 corps members reaching over 2,500 low-income students in Cincinnati- and Dayton-area public schools. Additionally, over 200 alumni are working from all sectors to end educational inequity in our community. Regional staff members work to train and support corps members, continually strengthen relationships with local schools and districts, foster the leadership of local alumni, and continue to grow the regional funding base and community partnerships to guarantee that Teach For America – Southwest Ohio can build a sustainable movement to reach the day when every child in the region has access to an excellent education.
- Research and planning:
- Conduct outstanding prospect research using both online databases and creative, rigorous, and entrepreneurial approaches to prospect research
- Ensure a high level of data accuracy, quality, and usability in our donor database (Salesforce)
- Cultivation and solicitation:
- Prepare polished, inspiring, professional, branded materials for cultivation meetings, both individualized and generalized
- Track and support annual pledges and cash collection efforts under the guidance of the regional development director
- Donor stewardship:
- Create exceptionally polished and compelling materials for external distribution to our donor base about the impact of local corps members and alumni (e.g., annual report, donor newsletter, social media)
- Craft individualized touch points for donors based on their particular motivations and connections to Teach For America
- Compose and submit high quality grant reports for local foundations and corporations (data collection, narrative writing, editing, timeline submission)
- Provide additional capacity and execution support to the development director on other critical projects over the course of the year (e.g., event planning and coordination, research for annual planning, data quality and database management, coordinating and supporting classroom visits for donors, ensuring strong and timeline submissions of materials from corps members for updates to donors through the "sponsor-a-teacher" program, updating donor section of local website).

- Strong writing ability
- Ability to produce inspiring, error-free written and visual documents for donors using a range of software platforms
- Keen attention to detail
- Deep appreciation for high quality data systems and the work it takes to ensure data quality
- Willingness to work hard while also investing in personal relationships with team members and fostering a high performing, results-focused, positive, and inclusive culture
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Prior experience with donor databases (preferably Salesforce) preferred but not required
- Prior professional experience in fundraising preferred by not required
- Minimum of two years of professional experience
- Bachelor's degree required
- Willingness to work some weekends and evenings.
- Ability to travel efficiently across the region and state
- Ability to travel to national conferences or trainings 2-5 times per year.
