Job Description:
Summary / day to day responsibilities
- Responsible for leading technical aspects of project from inception through to deployment.
- Participate in analysis and system design specification sessions.
- Responsible for the creation and Documentation of design options and solutions according to System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodology - SDD (Solution Design Document).
- Ensure that solutions adhere to development best practices and architectural principles.
- Apply analytical skills to resolve problems and deliver viable solutions.
- Anticipate obstacles and execute proactive approaches to issues.
- Active participation in issue resolution.
- Provide detailed development estimates to Project Manager for development effort as well as weekly status reporting and budget forecasting.
- Configuration management for the sub projects within the release.
- Responsible for coding, testing, packaging, deployment and support of builds as code is promoted from development, system, acceptance and production environments.
- Work closely Architect, Infrastructure, ITS, IT System Build Environment Management teams to ensure that environments are fully functional and that builds are properly deployed.
- Participate in development of test strategy, test plans, test cases and testing efforts (unit testing and integration testing of code).
- Provide technical support to business and testing team during testing phases. Track defects, defect triage and resolution.
- Ensure required documentation is housed in the project repository and that knowledge transfer has occurred to full time staff upon completion of contract term.
- Support EDPP Hadoop applications/tools, identify/address application/data issue of cross-capability and cross-release that may affect application integrity.
- Support tools/apps on Cloudera Hadoop platform, day-to-day operation support on big data ingestion/extraction, ETL, permission, Applications, administration, on Hive, Workflow, Oozie/Hue, CDH (Cloudera), Podium, Sentry, HBase, etc.
- Actively involved on application/system support and application issue resolution: identify and assess issues, troubleshooting and investigation, recommend best resolution to clients or resolve escalated issues.
- Join projects aimed at evolving the base infrastructure, deploying new technologies, or optimizing the operational environment.
- Focus on problem determination including data gathering and analysis, troubleshooting, investigation.
- Develop scripts using appropriate tools to address gaps, simplify or enhance the application/system or environment.
- Platform/infrastructure maintenance including operation, disaster recovery, monitoring, upgrading, security (LDAP), patching, configuration change, failover, replication, etc.
- Provided technical support and immediate resolution for outages/problems/issues
