About the Job
The Senior Revenue Manager role will play a key role in the Accounting organization supporting the Company’s revenue growth. In this role, you will partner with various teams throughout the organization and play an active role in providing advice on complex transactions from a revenue recognition perspective. This role requires the candidate to be an expert in revenue recognition literature and US GAAP. This role will report to the Controller and manage a team of revenue accounting and operations professionals.
Core Skills and Key Competencies
- Own revenue cycle end-to-end, ensuring revenue is recorded accurately and timely
- Ensure compliance with revenue recognition standards and policies
- Conduct necessary analysis to determine and support revenue recognition, draft the corresponding required accounting memos/whitepaper to document conclusions
- Lead the month-end close process for all revenue-related processes and tasks
- Manage a team to ensure proper revenue recognition and operations to support scalability and growth
- Lead audit efforts for revenue-related areas
- Support parent company requirements and communications
- Drive continuous process improvement and automation initiatives towards best-in-class efficiency and incorporating industry best practices
- Build and maintain relationships with FP&A, sales, legal, business consultants, professional services team, account directors, and shared services personnel
- Implement and document processes and procedures as required to support a strong internal control environment
- Provide internal management reports and support ad-hoc projects, as necessary
Minimum Qualifications
- B.S. Degree in Accounting or Finance
- 10+ years of revenue accounting and related experience, preferably in a software company
- Advanced knowledge of applying software revenue accounting guidelines - ASC 606 Revenue from Contracts with Customers
- Experience driving revenue recognition and scaling accounting processes in a high-growth environment
- Ability to roll-up sleeves and work with team members in a hands-on capacity as required
- Experienced with enterprise reporting systems
Preferred Qualifications
- NetSuite experience, SAP experience is a plus
- Strong project management and organization skills, juggling competing priorities and meeting deadlines
- Demonstrated success with process improvement initiatives
- "Self-starter" with a can-do attitude
- Ability to work independently to accomplish tasks
- Strong understanding of finance and accounting practices
- Exemplary analytical, verbal / written communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to partner effectively across all levels of the organization
