What does a Sales Operations Analyst really do? Think of yourself as someone who will need to understand what the business should be focusing on based on the data you gather from Salesforce, and you perform business analysis and data comparisons, create spreadsheets based on Salesforce data and  make recommendations based on the best-case scenarios of the data you’ve analyzed, so not just anyone is qualified for this role! Now we need your full concentration because it’s time to imagine what it’s like being a Sales Operations Analyst.
Imagine yourself going to work with one thing on your mind: that you are responsible for the collection and analysis of sales data for both prospects and clients for sales productivity and customer satisfaction because it will enable performance reviews and problem resolution.  You will be creating pivot tables in spreadsheets for analysis and comparison of sales and revenue data for both new logo and existing accounts.  This analysis will be performed weekly, monthly and quarterly, including creating Board of Directors quarterly reports with analysis for review . You will document observations and recommendations on the data and perform trend analysis on revenue, margin and sales activities for both new logo and existing accounts.   These results and recommendations will be presented and discussed on a consistent basis with the management teams of both areas, so you will have to have good communication and presentation skills.. Also, you will be working with cross-functional teams, i.e. Sales, Marketing, etc.  to set goals and targets based on the data set you’ve mined in Salesforce. As you tackle your new tasks for the day, you know that it comes down to one thing: that knowledge of the sales and account management functions are important, along with business and data analysis for trend reporting and projected outcomes.
As a Sales Operations Analyst, you will support the development of sales and operations strategy, understand priorities and track progress. You will optimize sales and operational efficiency through innovative thinking, process improvement, system enhancements and best practice sharing. You will engage and work with aligned sales, account management and operations teams to more effectively achieve data needs and analysis results. You will manage multiple concurrent projects and initiate, drive projects to completion with minimal guidance. You will apply quantitative analysis and data visualization to tell the story behind the numbers. You will assist the sales operations manager in understanding process bottlenecks and inconsistencies to implement data enrichment processes to improve sales and account management team’s performance. You will also develop and maintain sales analytics reports and dashboards to provide actionable insights that support data-driven decision-making for the sales and executive leadership teams. You will also work closely with our sales and account management teams.

What does it take to become a Sales Operations Analyst? Well, we need someone who has the ability to understand, create, and deliver top-quality, audience-appropriate communication. We’re looking for a data-driven person who can build spreadsheets and dashboards using Salesforce and financial data. We need someone who is a motivated professional who is comfortable in a fast paced, fun environment.    

Now let’s get technical. This position needs a person who has excel and data management skills, including pivot tables. Someone who has strong analytical skills and has attention to detail. Someone who can develop reporting out of Salesforce. 

What else? We need someone who’s technology savvy, preferably in contact center, customer service, or analytics technology. Someone who is self-motivated and has a professional attitude. Someone with strong written and verbal skills. Someone must possess good decision-making skills, plus is organized and detail oriented.

Lastly, we need someone with the knowledge of the ff: sales plus the account management process, using computers and Microsoft Office, and a strong familiarity with metrics such as: Bookings, Close Rate, Industry Booking Analysis, Escalations, Competitive Analysis, Quota Setting, Net Growth, Downgrades, Renewals & Cancelations, Quality of Accounts, Marketing Campaign effectiveness. We need someone with excellent analytical, reporting, data manipulation, dashboard creation, and business intelligence skills. Someone with excellent team and interpersonal skills. Someone who has the ability to meet/exceed department metrics/measure plus has a College Degree!
