So what does a Proposal Manager really do? Think of yourself as someone who will be the primary writer and  control of quality, content and final appearance of the proposal production process including the on-time delivery of the submission, so not just anyone is qualified for this role. Now we need your full concentration because it’s time to imagine what it’s like being a Proposal Manager.


Imagine yourself going to work with one thing on your mind: that you will coordinate the collection and accumulation of cost, scheduling, and performance elements from various subject matter experts and to complete artfully crafted clear and concise written technical solutions. As you tackle your new tasks for the day, you know that it comes down to one thing: that you will collaborate with the capture team and a widely distributed technical and subject matter experts to gain an appropriate understanding of the offerings and strategy to ensure the response clearly conveys the proper business perspective, key win themes, our unique value proposition and differentiators against our competition


As a Proposal Manager, you will provide technical writing, editing and proofreading services inclusive of graphical exhibits. You will also interview technical experts and create concise technical written solutions whereby proposal reviewers clearly understand we have the resources to provide technical solutions. You will create and maintain proposal file organization  including the distribution of all internal and external proposal documents to the team and strategic partners. You will maintain configuration control of all living and deal proposal files, forms, graphics, drafts, reviewers- comments and management approvals. Lastly, you will review proposals to ensure sections comply with RFP requirements, contain win strategies, win themes, provide feedback on proposal products.


So, do you have what it takes to become a Proposal Manager?



So, what is it we’re looking for? Well, since this is a manager role we need someone who already has the skills to even call themselves one. So definitely someone with experience in being one, so if you have at least 5 years of experience in technical in writing and proposal management with at least 2 years of BPO -- then you’re what we need. Also, a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline is needed and knowledge plus experience in the service and/or outsourcing industry of 2+ years is preferred.

Now let’s get a bit technical. We need someone who’s proficient in analyzing RFPs and writing corresponding opportunity synopses. Someone who has presentation skills and the ability to communicate, influence, and gain commitment of proposal team in order to achieve a winning submission. Also, creative thinking, problem solving skills, and detail-oriented while managing multiple proposal deadlines and activities is needed for this position. We also need someone who has Formal training in structured proposal development (e.g. Shipley) and has a proven track record in understanding the proposal capture process of, business process and technical services. Lastly, excellent English communication skills is needed!
