Sr. Engineering Manager

As an Engineering Manager you are responsible for the technology decisions that enable the business plan and will manage an engineering team in an agile environment. You will be responsible for providing guidance to engineers and functional analysts making relevant technology solution decisions related to SAP configuration, SAP development, and many other non-SAP finance products. The key to the success of this position is having strong & innovative approach to problem solving, great technical leadership, excellent communication (written and verbal, formal and informal), flexibility, and a self-motivated working style with attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive best practices and ensure development of high quality solutions/technologies through advocating for and ensuring standards for common assets and framework components
  • Determine the right technology choices (upgrade decisions, hosting decision) to best deliver business value keeping in mind availability, scalability and reliability of solution.
  • Build and manage a team of high caliber SAP functional analsysts, java engineers, and integration engineers.
  • Drive resolution of technology roadblocks including configuration, code, infrastructure, build and deployment, and accountable by working with business owners and for meeting delivery dates
  • Manage cross-product technical dependencies and drive resolutions to conflicts
  • Advocate for and ensure standards around technologies, frameworks, design patterns, processes and guiding values of the domain architecture
  • Ensure all solutions/technologies adheres to all development & security standards

Required Skills:

  • Technical knowledge and background, plus additional role-specific technical skills as required

oSAP experience with:

§Functional areas – Core financials/accounting (General ledger, stock ledger), treasury, accounts receivable/payable, reconciliations, financial consolidations, cost accounting, SAP BPC, Project Systems, Fixed Assets, Refx

§Technology – COPA, ECC 6 on enhancement pack 7 running on Hana

§Very familiar with the SAP platform components and technology stack

oFinance experience with:

§HFM (Hyperion tool for financial processing)

§Trintech or Blackline for reconciliations

§Integration technologies

§Data needs for financial systems

§Java or ABAP experience

§SaaS solutions

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to variety of audiences
  • Team-orientated, passionate about developing others’ skills and capabilities
  • Good understanding of agile development processes and methodology; including continuous integration and continuous delivery practices
  • Strong sense of ownership and problem solving skills

Desired Qualifications:

  • BS degree in computer science or equivalent
  • Experience working in an agile environment (e.g. user stories, iterative development, etc)
  • 8+ years of SAP experience
  • 3+ years of managing teams with a strong track record of delivery for cross-functional products
  • Experience operating medium+ scale systems
  • Experience with test-driven development and software test automation
