Sr Engineer - Identity Access/ Policy Enforcement

  • Guide technical design activities to ensure design intent is clear and infrastructure impact understood
  • Resolve hardware, operational, infrastructure and application incidents
  • Provide preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and quickly resolve routine problems to ensure infrastructure and application stability
  • Collaborate with team to promote re-use and develop consistent technical build, implementation and support processes
  • Work with IT management and architects to ensure systems are in line with overall IT policies and standards
  • Apply solutions in support of data management that reflect industry best practices for modular architecture, data security, and data privacy
  • Drive the implementation of next-generation data distribution and consumption capabilities
  • Drive integrations for multiple data management platforms and systems
  • Design and implement enhancements to our platform integration capabilities
  • Assess and help drive adoption of new technologies within the team and across Target
  • Refine and mature our continuous integration pipeline
  • Build prototypes to prove out concepts

About This Opportunity – Development

  • Develop identity management and data management engineering activities for assigned platforms
  • Design, develop and unit test software or implement and test infrastructure components that meet functional and non-functional activities
  • Coordinate the diagnoses, isolation and de-bugging of software and hardware problems and perform problem resolution
  • Ensure adherence to standards and best practices
  • Contribute as a highly productive coder, self-starter and show self-motivation
  • Required Skills:
  • LDAP/Directory Server engineering including:
  • Understanding of Enterprise Directory Architecture including directory schema, Resource Provisioning, Role Based Access Control
  • Experience with one or directory servers such as Active Directory, IBM Directory Server, Sun Directory Server or Apache Directory Server.
  • Experience with Digital Certificates, PKI, SSL and other related technologies.
  • Strong Linux or Unix background
  • Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with DevOps tools like Jenkins and Chef
  • Strong scripting experience for installation on Linux
  • Experience with Databases (Oracle, Sybase, MSSQL, MySQL)
  • Experience with Authentication and Authorization concepts
  • OAuth, OpenID Connect, and SAML
  • XACML policy language
  • Relational databases and associated technologies like SQL and data modeling including large or unstructured data sets
  • Experience with Java template engines like Apache Velocity or Thymeleaf
  • Experience with Unbound ID and/or Open Stack a plus


  • BA/BS or equivalent experience in a related field (e.g. Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Information Systems)
  • 5-10 years total work experience
  • 3 or more years of significant LDAP experience
  • Java development experience with REST/Open API Concepts, REST framework, JSON
  • In-depth knowledge of state-of-the art engineering technical approaches in design, build, testing, debugging problems as required by domain
  • Stays current with new and evolving technologies via formal training and self-directed education
