Lead DevOps Engineer

Description: We are looking for a creative and motivated individual who can both lead and implement, is eager to learn, and wants to help build the culture, practice, and craft of DevOps and Agile at Target. The key to the success of this position is ability to work well with others regardless of their level or background, solid engineering expertise, collaboration, and a self-motivated working style.

What You Will Be Doing

As a member of the ATP Platform team, you’ll be focused on helping teams develop better software through Automation, Monitoring, Performance, Deployment, and Configuration Management.

Lead drive key development on critical strategic initiatives in the Guest Fulfillment Platform space.

Provide technical guidance and steering to GFA Team Members and assist in the development of Platform team roadmap and strategy

Build and continuously improve reference applications to make it easier for product teams to deliver reactive applications fast.

Actively use Agile methods with the team to manage WIP, flow, and prioritization of work.

You’ll be hands on with new technology as you assist in driving the evolution of dev-ops at Target in the Guest Fulfillment space.

You’ll be hands on with tools: Git Github, Chef, Artifactory, Jenkins, OpenStack, Balance, Node-Proxy, VMWare, and Open Source software to build automated testing and delivery pipelines

You will engage with local and global teams to help mature our practices and to leverage principles rooted in continuous integration and delivery.

Identify, recommend, and drive emerging technologies in the GFA development and automation spaces

Preferred Experience

Experience with Lean and or DevOps practices

Experience with coding languages to drive system integration and automation

Experience with provisioning and automation platforms and languages such as Ansible and Chef

Familiarity with Java, Spring Cloud Boot, RxJava based concurrency, node.js, Cloud Design Patterns e.g. circuit breaker etc., implemented via use of Netflix Ribbon and Hystrix

Experience with Agile software development practices (Scrum, TDD, XP)

Experience with Blue Green deployment methodology

Practical knowledge of infrastructure technologies, including logging, monitoring, alerting, and security

Bonus Points

Experience with Docker Container technology and Kubernetes Container Orchestration

Expertise in OpenStack private cloud

Requirements

BA BS or equivalent experience

5-7 years total work experience

Stays current with new and evolving technologies via formal training and selfdirected education

Excellent programming skills

Eagerly explores new areas to increase technical knowledge
