Software Developer, Release Engineering Team

Taboola, the world’s largest content recommendation platform, is hiring a Software Developer, Release Engineering Team.

In this job you will:

  • Develop the deployment platforms of one of the largest real time big data operation in the world to support over 1.4B users, 500,000 requests / second, 40TB of new data every day
  • Have end to end ownership: Design, build, ship, measure and maintain our development, build and deployment services
  • Work with developers across the R&D to improve their day to day
  • Collaborate with the brightest software engineers team members
  • Influence directly on the way billions of people discover the internet
  • Here are some of the things devs in our group did in the last several months:
  • Reduce the build time by 50% while continue running R&D’s 40K (and growing) unit tests, regression tests and validity checks.
  • Created bigQuery data pipelines and monitoring tools
  • Developed an automated system to setup dynamic staging environment for developers and testing
  • Developed a build and testing infrastructure for our mobile products
  • Reduced the CI failure rate by 60% saving thousands of hours of development frustration

Our Tech Stack:

You will work with:

  • The people who wrote the first lines of code in Taboola (and many many more lines after that)
  • Hack and Slash games enthusiasts
  • People who are deeply familiar with the code of Kafka, Cassandra, AirFlow, MetricTank and Spark (including committing back)
  • Famous internal Taboola hackathon winners
  • The designers and implementers of a offheap, zero GC, Custom Kafka Producer which cumulatively sends ~100B messages / day
  • A professional cellist

About you:

  • Experience developing large scale distributed systems
  • Experience with build and packaging tools such as: Docker, Helm, Maven, RPM
  • 3+ years programming experience in Java or equivalent Object-Oriented language
  • High familiarity with monitoring tools such as ELK, Grafana, Prometheus
  • Production systems understanding
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL
  • Highly Proficient in Linux environment
  • Proven ability to work effectively across multiple teams
  • BSc in computer science or equivalent experience
  • Nice to have:
  • Experience in Big Data tools
  • Knowledge in algorithms, data-mining and machine learning
