JOB SUMMARY
Accountable for the overall performance and management of a group of sub categories for Supplies on the Fly and Category 10 (SUPP) for Sysco USBL. This position is expected to develop a deep understanding of our business, processes and procedures as well as develop broad supplier, product, and industry knowledge. Manages one or more category assistants depending on category size.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops & executes the category specific merchandising strategy for their selected products & suppliers for both Supplies on the Fly & Sysco USBL including product and supplier mix. Recognizes and appropriately acts upon supplier development opportunities (potential new relevant suppliers.)
  • Responsible for day-to-day details of online merchandising strategy and content   management including categorization, navigation, product content, pricing, search, and new product launches for all primary and tertiary domain sites (SOTF, CMU, GPO sites.)
  • Establishes performance management tools for category and supplier metrics.
  • Supports and develops tactics to drive budgeted conversion, sales, and margin. Builds relationships and conducts financial negotiations with suppliers: costing, rebates, and promotional activities, Co-op funds, and freight programs for both SOTF & Sysco USBL.
  • Works with Director and Data Scientist in creating pricing strategy to drive market share and incremental profit opportunities while remaining market relevant
  • Works with logistics and analytics to optimize supplier and vendor shipping performance.  Determines optimal supplier sourcing (vendor of choice.)
  • Acts as traffic control for field feedback and communication from and out to the USBL Sysco associates
  • Makes decisions based on reporting and provides status and timelines to the key merchandising team members and company management.
  • Makes recommendations to improve merchandising with a focus on better serving the customer, and beating the competition.
  • Helps develop and train category assistants on category management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Basic Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in business
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in online merchandising and managing merchandising strategy.
  • Minimum 5 years’ planning and management experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience forming, growing and developing a team.
  • Negotiation experience.
  • Strong mathematic and analytical skills
  • Tracking and budgeting skills
  • Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft skills: Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, and project management software
  • Experience in Foodservice merchandising and/or marketing
