JOB SUMMARY

This Merchandising position is responsible for inventory management, pricing, PO (purchase order) accuracy, minimal spoilage and shrink. Executes a replenishment strategy that supports supply chain efficiencies and performs other related duties as required.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, plan and organize work activities, analyze and disseminate information, and manage work time efficiently.
  • Ability to manage the pressures and stress associated with a deadline-oriented atmosphere and customer service issues.
  • Excellent computer skills and have a working knowledge of programs such as Microsoft Word, and Excel.
  • Considerable working knowledge merchandising principles, and term negotiation techniques; product lines sold by SYSCO and the foodservice market/industry; program development and management; management principles including developing objectives, projecting and managing under a budget, evaluation department operations, and supervising and motivating employees; practices associated with inventory control; necessary inter-department communications related to certain promotion and vendor term negotiation activities; SYSCO credit terms and general finance terminology and concepts; basic account principles and book-keeping activities.
  • Profitability management, including margin management, logistic reviews, agreement reviews, and approvals.
  • Manage inventory, obsolete inventory, DSO (day sales outstanding), PO (purchase order) creation and documentation, settlements, and spoilage and shrink to achieve Sysco goals.
  • Negotiating pricing and programs with new and current vendors on items and earned income to maximize customer satisfaction and inventory needs.
  • Review current vendors and/or search for new vendors to ensure product needs and competitive pricing.
  • Works with the Sales team to determine the product needs of customers to help sustain and grow new business.
  • Trains Sales team on product details and pricing.
  • Facilitates samples and manages promotions.
  • Market knowledge of the cost of products and sets our costs.
  • Assist with sales cost determination and communicates pricing to Sales management and VP (vice president) of Merchandising.
  • Aids in maintaining vendor master files by attaining HHA and COI forms to compile with policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year College or University.

Experience

  • 2-5 years of Merchandising experience.

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk and hear.

Work Environment

  • The work environment varies between office, warehouse, and field locations.  This includes, but is not limited to: various outdoor and indoor climates and driving conditions. 
  • Primarily in an office environment.
