SerDes Digital Design Engineer

Synaptics is searching for a hands-on, experienced, team-oriented engineer with SerDes design expertise for the Automotive PHY Product Group. In this role, you will be responsible for the design of multi-Gbps Serdes interfaces for next-generation camera, displays and lidar sensors wired connectivity.

Responsibilities include:

  • Design and analysis of high-speed SERDES IPs with building blocks such as CTLE, DFE, CDRs, PLLs, transmit drivers. Converting DSP algorithms to RTL Verilog code.
  • Hands-on experience with 10Gbps and above SerDes
  • Work with System Designers in converting algorithms to high speed logic.
  • Work with rest of Analog design team for understanding interfaces.
  • Work with the verification team to enable integration into top level test environments and provide support via functional models
  • Design tests and perform bench evaluation for silicon, characterization and interface with test, product and applications engineers to take these products from initial concept to production
  • ASIC design including RTL, simulation, synthesis, DFT, timing closure and formal verification


Required Qualifications

The candidate should have excellent knowledge of digital/logic design. The successful candidate will be highly motivated with excellent time management and communication skills needed to work with various engineering and product development groups.

  • MSEE/CS with atleast 5 years of IC digital design experience.
  • Organized and creative thinker, motivated, and independent learner who can multitask in a dynamic environment, able to create and implement new solutions where required
  • Experience in DDR/Serdes controller design at both protocol and electrical level
  • Experience with SerDes Rx design with CDR
  • Experience in custom design including transistor level design, HSPICE simulation, layout and silicon debug/characterization
  • Experience with ASIC design flow and tools (DC, PT, PrimePower, Formality, Tetramax)
  • Knowledge of planning and implementing SoC DFT and BIST features
  • Working knowledge of programming and scripting languages (C, Perl, Skill, MATLAB, Verilog)
  • Organized and creative thinker, motivated, and independent learner who can multitask in a dynamic environment, able to create and implement new solutions where required
  • Must have excellent documentation, communication skills and ability to work independently
