Program Manager

Program Managers oversee strategic client relationships and complex multidisciplinary projects in our San Francisco office. This position involves leading and managing cross-functional teams developing new products, services, and environments for our clients from concept through production. The ideal candidate will have succeeded in engineering or design roles and be looking to expand their purview to include program management and oversight. The Program Manager ensures project success by aligning expectations, maintaining focus on the right goals and priorities, developing execution strategies, clearly communicating tasks, schedules, and deliverables, and maintaining a continuous, supportive dialogue with the client and other development partners.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead multidisciplinary project teams in complex development projects
  • Develop project execution strategies that best match the goals and priorities of the client
  • Build and maintain rapport with new and repeat clients through thoughtful communication of brand elements, business objectives, project goals, strategic priorities, status, risks and issues
  • Create and maintain project schedules and budgets, monitor project team progress and make adjustments as required, assess risks and control scope
  • Direct and manage manufacturing partners domestically and internationally to meet program goals for schedule, quality, and cost
  • Contribute to the growth of the business through evangelism, network outreach, and a professional presence which inspires confidence and trust
  • Deliver high quality results on schedule and within budget

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Project Leader/Manager
  • Shipped 3+ commercial products as Project Leader/Manager
  • Proven ability to successfully manage multiple large scale projects and teams simultaneously that deliver products on schedule and within budget constraints
  • Experience working with multiple disciplines (Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, and Industrial Design/UX)
  • Strong relationship building, presentation, and client interaction skills
  • Ability to simultaneously referee and judiciously score games of Frisbee, soccer, and lacrosse played on the same field, by the same players
  • Experience estimating and proposing fixed-price projects
  • Experience working with overseas contract manufacturers
  • Intimate understanding of daily project delivery requirements, issues, needs, and risk mitigation
  • Strong understanding and use of project management “Best Practices”, methodologies, standards, and tools
  • Experience with Microsoft Project or equivalent

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor of Science degree (preferably in engineering) required
  • Advanced degree preferred
