Roofing Foreman


The Roofing Foreman will be responsible for working closely with the Program Manager Roofing Standards, Branch Construction Supervisor, and installation teams. The Roofing Foreman will be responsible for leading re-roof projects and repairs.  The Roofing Foreman is a working field position that leads a team of 3 to 6 members. The Roofing Foreman will be trained as a Lead Installer as well.



  • Provide professional guidance and support to fellow installation crew members
  • Responsible for the successful re-roof and repair of clients roofs including but not limited to:
    • Safely load and unload roofing materials from the vehicle to the roof
    • Ensure there is adequate materials and equipment to safely and efficiently complete projects
    • Lift roofing materials onto roof using pulleys or ladder
    • Safely remove existing roofing from home
    • Clear debris from roof
    • Install new roofing-composition, tile and single ply roofing according to manufacturer specifications
    • Repair and/or replace damaged sheathing, starter, fascia, and rafters
    • Locate and repair cracked tiles
    • Fill in missing tiles
    • Clear out gutters and drains
    • Locate and fix leaks
    • Repair damage caused from storms and high winds
  • Organize, lead, and train crew members to complete projects within established guidelines and timeframes
  • Direct the crew; instruct employees, assign and allocate work
  • Responsible for crew production and quality of workmanship
  • Ensure attention to detail with an emphasis on safety, quality, customer service, and productivity
  • Effectively manage all aspects of the construction workflow of the project to drive productivity
  • Effectively maintain project documentation and photo requirements
  • Demonstrate knowledge of OSHA standards related to roofing procedures and maintain and enforce site safety practices and standards in OSHA compliance
  • Demonstrate understanding of how materials and roofing systems go together and come apart in order to complete repairs to existing roofing systems
  • Develop a positive working dynamic within installation crew and branch co-workers
  • Analyze and resolve worker problems and recommend solutions
  • Maintain consistent and appropriate interface with customer throughout construction phase maintaining good customer relations at all times
  • Perform weekly vehicle inspection for proper tire pressures, oil level, working lights, etc.
  • Obtain customer payments and deliver to management as required
  • Maintain excellent lines of communication with co-workers and customers
  • Perform service calls when necessary



  • Installation of the mechanical systems of ground or roof mounted solar system
  • Assemble the racking and solar array
  • Assemble equipment along with properly sealing all roof penetrations
  • Complete trenching, concrete work and equipment assembly
  • Conduct project clean up including client site and installation vehicle
  • Lead crew through effective and efficient installation



  • Must have minimum of five (5) years roofing experience, including concrete tile, clay tile, composition shingle, single ply membrane, modified bitumen, and built-up roofing; OR, Completion of a four year federally approved technical training program in roofing; OR Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved
  • Previous solar installation experience preferred
  • Knowledge of standard roofing procedures, materials, and buildings codes as they relate to the roofing process
  • Basic carpentry skills as the relate to roofing; plywood and shiplap replacement
  • Ability to use a tape measure, simple hand tools including a hammer, utility knife, and chalk line, broom and other cleaning tools effectively
  • Have CPR and First Aid Certifications up to date and keep maintained for purposes of continued employment (class costs are reimbursable by the company)
  • Professional appearance and customer interaction
  • Have a strong work ethic, high level of craftsmanship/workmanship with strong attention to detail
  • Basic computer knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Possess strong mechanical/construction skills
  • Have excellent verbal communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Have excellent people skills, able to manage, motivate and discipline when necessary
  • Ability to drive a vehicle during the normal course of business. Must maintain a clean driving record with the ability to pass a driving background check. Must be 21 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to drive a truck and trailer
  • Ability to work safely in a branch/warehouse/rooftop environment
  • Ability to operate office equipment including computers and determine accuracy of work
  • Ability to interact with co-workers and participate in meetings



  • Ability to transport materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks (up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with assistance)
  • Ability to work on rooftops with various angles and surfaces which requires frequent bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, turning, standing, and balance
  • Ability to work in confined spaces which requires kneeling, crouching and climbing ladders
  • Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions including but not limited to: excessive noise, extreme heat, extreme cold, wet environment, and humidity
  • Ability to frequently utilize hand functions requiring fine motor skills including but not limited to: fine manipulation, grasping, and pinching
  • Ability to frequently utilize gross motor skills including but not limited to: pushing, pulling, and reaching
