Since opening our first Harlem school in 2006, Success Academy Charter Schools has swiftly grown to 46 high-performing schools, serving 16,000 kids from Bed-Stuy to the Bronx. We are scaling to 100 great schools serving 50,000 children across New York City, bringing transformational change here and across the country.
With our rapid growth and commitment to excellence, Success Academy is seeking an Associate Director of Computer Science to help us revolutionize how we teach K-12 Computer Science and train our growing team of STEM teachers and leaders. Through the development of rigorous and engaging curriculum units and assessment materials, in collaboration with top experts in the field, our Associate Director of Computer Science will play a vital role in helping us reimagine public education and Computer Science instruction.
The Associate Director of Computer Science should be someone who....
-Is a visionary instructional designer with a deep understanding of computational thinking, what the learning progression of Computer Science should look like in various grade bands across K-12, and inquiry-based teaching practices;
-Has the proven ability to design engaging and rigorous curriculum and assessment materials that inspire intellectual curiosity and a love of Computer Science;
-Deeply believes that great Computer Science instruction provides access to deep content knowledge balanced with critical thinking skills, meaningful discourse, and productive struggle;
-Possesses superior written and verbal communication skills with the ability to curate and develop concise and compelling content;
-Seeks to work at a fast-paced, collaborative, compassionate, start-up organization, where entrepreneurialism, innovation, and disruption are valorized; and
-Is a learner.
