We are currently seeking a Staff Applications Software Engineer to work (hybrid) out of our headquarters in the Kalamazoo, Michigan area. (Relocation Provided)

As a Staff Applications Software Engineer, you will support new product development and play a pivotal role in the development of cutting-edge medical products within Stryker's NeuroSurgical division. Your expertise will drive innovation in surgical execution, contributing to procedural solutions in cranial and spinal fusion.

What You Will Do:
Technical Responsibilities:
- Design and conduct advanced prototyping and testing.
- Identify solutions for complex problems, evaluating them against component and sub-system requirements.
- Perform research and studies to support innovative product design.
- Translate user needs into design specifications and produce advanced component and sub-system designs.
- Analyze and resolve complex product design issues, exercising independent judgment.
- Balance design tradeoffs while working on system components.
- Develop software systems according to defined requirements and architecture.
- Estimate code development time/resources to support projects.
- Generate and review essential project documents (requirements, design, architecture, bugs, tests).
Business Responsibilities:
- Apply in-depth customer knowledge, market insights, and competitive understanding to drive solution advancements.
- Utilize clinical procedure expertise to define design inputs.
- Support internal and external Voice of Customer sessions with clinicians.
- Demonstrate evolving financial acumen.
General Responsibilities:
- Collaborate across R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Clinical, Marketing, and Project Management for successful project outcomes.
- Identify, create, and enhance procedures, policies, processes, systems, and technology.
- Contribute to complex product development phases, advancing projects through design, development, and launch.
- Play a role in the product development lifecycle, from concept to release.
- Deliver high-quality results with enthusiasm, energy, and alignment with business priorities.
- Foster relationships and exert influence across engineering groups within the business.
- Design, develop, modify, evaluate, and verify software components for medical devices.
- Apply design principles, coding standards, and best practices in code reviews.
What You Will Need: (Required)
- Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering/ Computer Science or related discipline & 4+ years of work experience.
- Prior Qt/QML experience.
- C / C++ programming language proficiency.
- STL experience.
- Linux experience.
Preferred Qualifications (Strongly desired):
Technical Skills:
- Exposure to programming skills. Design new components applying various concepts design concepts and patterns.
- Experience with software tools for static/dynamic analysis, memory management, code coverage and techniques for analyzing software.
- Prior experience developing mission-critical software in a regulated industry.
- Familiar with FDA software regulations and ISO 62304.
Software Process Skills:
- Experience in creating estimates for code implementation time/resources for assigned tasks.
- Experience in Software Development Life Cycle processes.
- Experience using Application Lifecycle Management /Traceability tools.
- Experience with regulatory and compliance standards applied to the SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle)
- $95,100- $204,000salary plus bonus eligible + benefits. Actual minimum and maximum may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
