This senior software R&D role is for an experienced, hands-on engineer who is passionate about delivering technically rigorous solutions. This role is a key technical leader for our cloud-based platform that serves patients, surgeons, and other healthcare providers.
This position will collaborate with surgeons and others to understand product needs, as well as with other technical leaders to define requirements, architecture, design, verification, and implementation strategies that meet the demanding needs of our customers. We are looking for candidates who are passionate about leveraging technology to make a meaningful impact on the lives of patients.
This role will work on our cloud system to ingest and store data, process it with AI and ML pipelines, and make it available to applications and other services via APIs.

What you will do:
- Be a key contributor in the architecture, design, and development of the cloud platform and its applications, focusing on cloud-side APIs and integration
- Design and develop services to securely ingest data, process, and make it available via APIs
- Contribute to the creation of Software Development Kits (SDKs) that accelerate application integration
- Embrace Observability as a foundational element of design, ensuring system performance and reliability
- Drive the evolution of our data solutions, keeping abreast of modern practices and guiding their implementation
- Advocate and implement CI/CD and DevOps practices
- Grow IP portfolio by developing inventions and patents
- Maintain collaborative partnerships with stakeholders, and ensure alignment with design controls
- Maintain outstanding communication, able to articulate complex technical ideas to a range of audiences and collaborate effectively across disciplines
What You Need
Minimum Qualifications (Required):
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent in a related field (Software, Computer, Electrical, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical, etc.)
- Bachelor's degree in other fields are acceptable, with additional years of experience
Required Work Experience and Knowledge
- 6+ years of experience of professional software development, or a combination of education and experience with a technical degree
- 8+ years of experience in professional software development, or a combination of education and experience with a non-technical degree
- Expertise with programming languages such as C#, JavaScript (NodeJS), Java, and Python
- Expertise in the design and implementation of cloud-based, distributed systems
- Experience with a public cloud platform (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
- Experience designing and developing APIs using GraphQL or REST
- Experience with service integration approaches such as message queues, service bus, or event-driven architecture
- Experience designing systems with security, data privacy, observability and reliability as key architectural concerns
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate degree in a technical field is preferred
- A background in medical device software (IEC 62304) or biomedical application development is a plus
- A demonstrable track record building secure, compliant, and robust cloud solutions, especially within a regulated industry
- Fluent in concepts such as configuration and data planes, service discovery, API gateways, log aggregation, and observability
$109,500- $232,900 salary plus bonus eligible + benefits. Actual minimum and maximum may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
