In this role, you will work with R&D team, especially with other software and robotics control engineers, to integrate and maintain the Robotics System under development. More importantly, you will have the opportunity to apply your technical abilities to improve and influence the practice of medicine with innovative and enabling designs. Whether integrating software and electro-mechanical components, working with robotics control and other software engineers on particular software implementations, or working with system teams to validate the latest concepts. For this position, we are looking for an engineer with multiple years of Robotics Software and Control experience with knowledge of software development, preferably with C++ language. Top candidates will have a solid understanding of robotics systems and control, be able to work independently, and have significant knowledge in software development. You will thrive in a fast paced environment and enjoy working cross-functionally with engineering teams around the globe. Specifically, this role is with our surgical robotics group, which is focused on developing revolutionary robotic devices that will change the way medicine is practiced.
What you will do
You will be a strong relationship builder and cooperative partner with your colleagues in research, development, operations and other departments within Stryker.
- You will work with other software and control engineers to integrate latest software release with available Robotics Systems.
- You will troubleshoot development Robotics system issues in close coordination with the control and software engineering team.
- You will participate engineering testing at both the subsystem and system level.
- You will work with project management, test engineers, and quality engineers on the development and execution of product verification and validation.
What you Need
We are looking for a Robotics System Software Engineer who combines a solid technical background with the ability to function well in a progressive, Agile and multi-disciplinary embedded software R&D environment. You should be highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to convey highly technical information to internal staff as well as external clients. It is also important that you combine excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, and the ability to work well both independently or as part of a team. Specific requirements for this role include:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and/or a Robotics focused engineering curriculum. Advanced degree preferred.
- 2+ years of experience related to this job description.
- Professional software development experience with C++.
- Detail oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- 1 or more years of academic or professional experience in MATLAB programming and control simulation
- Software development experience in a regulated industry, such as medical devices.
