Manager II Diversity & Inclusion - Stop and Shop

Job Objective
This role primarily designs and develops diversity programs and plans by completing the following: developing and/or modifying a diversity plan that supports the organization's business objectives; developing and implementing programs consistent with the goals and objectives of the company diversity plan; conducting human resources reviews to reveal any barriers to valuing and managing diversity inherent in the system; and designing and implementing appropriate training programs.

Key Result Areas / Goals
1. Program development and support
Supports the development and implements policies and programs under supervision that are aligned with the Diversity & Inclusion strategy.

  • Partners with Diversity Director & HR Centers of Expertise in conducting market analysis, as well as in designing an implementation plan for building relationships with potential candidates and diversity partners inside and outside of the retail industry.
  • Completes research of diversity industry best practices, recommendations and statistics.
  • Monitors progress and recommend enhancements to existing initiatives, as well as the opportunity for new initiatives.
  • Supports the Development and the Management of Business Diversity Strategies, including Business Resource Groups, College Relations, Internships and Retail Management and Development Trainees. Utilize resources - senior management, middle management and associates to carry out Diversity & Inclusion business strategies. Actively participate with local, state, regional and national organizations in the areas of Diversity & Inclusion that impact or contribute to overall Company.

2. Program execution and administration
Monitors programs that assess degree of participation, policy adherence, and goals achievement.
  • Analyzes statistics regarding employment data, including but not limited to applicant flow, hires, promotions, transfers, terminations and training according to department and company goals and objectives.
  • Prepares analyses of employment activity in underutilized job groups and tracks efforts on achieving utilization.
  • Supports Diversity Council, Business Resource Groups and other program elements

3. Diversity metrics and reporting
  • Supports the analysis of reporting to assist in the development of recommendations for programs and initiatives that support a sustained flow of diverse professional and managerial talent.
  • Develops executive-ready reports and dashboard summaries of all diversity metrics tracking & reporting.
  • Contributes to the development of communications that inform employees and external parties about diversity initiatives and results.

4. Community outreach and relationship management

Context
  • Organizational context: This role is a blend between analytical and relational; the incumbent must complete data analysis and be able to represent the company at multicultural events. The role must be comfortable representing the organization internally at D&I led events, as well as externally.
  • Framework & guidelines: The incumbent is expected to actively participate in the review and recommendation of initiatives to address areas of concern. This role is focused on implementing policy and revising procedures where necessary.
  • Financial dimension: This role has an indirect effect on the departmental budget.
  • Degree of latitude: This position must consult with management for approval to develop a new initiative to contribute to the overall Diversity and Inclusion strategy.
  • Interactions and relationships: Relationship building is extremely important for this role. The incumbent has to maintain effective relationship with clients, partners, and people from various backgrounds and cultures both internally and externally.
