2nd Shift Supervisor Distribution Operations

Position Description:
The 2nd Shift Supervisor Distribution Operations is responsible for supervising the day to day operations of the department while meeting KPIs.
1.

Maintain a high awareness in keeping a safe work environment and safe work culture through daily communication with our associates and leads. Safety must be a consistent message through education, correction, encouragement and recognition.

2.

Monitor and adjust associate staffing levels and schedules to meet customer volume demands and seasonal volume fluctuations. Partner with human resources to proactively meet these demands in hiring and training associates in a timely manner.

3.

Ensure strict associate adherence to all engineered labor standards.

4.

Accountable for the consistent application and support of all policies and procedures written in company handbook and written policies including attendance, progressive discipline, application of benefits, associate programs etc. Model behavior consistent with DC leadership role.

5.

Supervise administrative hourly associates and operations ‘leads' including planning and evaluating performances; establishing performance requirements and personal development targets; monitoring performance and providing coaching for performance improvement and development.

6.

Manage day- to- day operations through effective workload balancing with the goal of reducing fluctuations in the end of day between departments. Done so through effective staffing, cross-training and the timely movement of resources.

7.

Coaching and guiding all associates to meet required accuracy goals within each department. This may be achieved through education, training, and associate involvement in idea generation and progressive discipline.

8.

Coaching and guiding associates to meet the required productivity goals within each department. This may be achieved through education, training, involvement and progressive discipline.

9.

Demonstrate the ability to identify root causes related to production problems and filter information through appropriate channels to facilitate effective problem solving. Makes good decisions based on a mixture of analysis, experience and good judgment. Contributes innovative and effective suggestions for improving work. Models a positive approach and sense of urgency when dealing with problems. Challenge the status quo to acknowledge the need for change.

Partnering with human resources and through consistent interactions with our associates, work to build trust and build relationships with the goal of improved associate relations and a more positive work environment. 12.

Monitor all OJT and schedules to create consistency in fairness to all newly hired associates.

13.

Drive productivity throughout the warehouse by maintaining a visible presence on the floor of the distribution centers, reviewing labor management reports to identify performance issues, conducting audits per established schedule and identification of potential barriers to maximizing productivity, such as congestion, slotting issues and safety and proactively work to resolve issue(s).

Essential Skills

1.
Education (Minimum Needed): Two year college degree in business management or equivalent experience

2.
Experience (Minimum Needed):2-4 years experience in warehouse operations, transportation or logistics REQUIRED

3.
Specialized Knowledge Needed For Performance of Job: Preferred background in warehousing/distribution with an understanding of Warehouse Management Systems, Inventory control, Shipping, Receiving, Selection, and Productivity Management Systems.

4.
Special Skills: Excellent oral and written skills.Demonstrate leadership skills that generate respect and understanding, interpersonal skills, coaching and conflict management.Problem solving skills required. Must feel comfortable in a fast paced, high pressured work environment with the ability to multi task and prioritize.

5.
Other:Must be able to take assignment in any warehouse/distribution shift.
