Your Opportunity

This is a seasonal ecological Restoration Technician position, working with our Ecosystem Restoration group out of Stantec's Naperville, Illinois office. Carrying out tasks related to prairie, wetland, and other natural community restoration and management.

Your Key Responsibilities

Specific job tasks include application of various herbicides, mowing, installation of native seeds and plants, prescribed burning, and brush/tree removal. Equipment operations may include chainsaws, backpack herbicide sprayers, and ATV. Assist project managers, staff scientists and senior scientists with the collection of field and written/tabular data for various types of tasks.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Valid state driver's license is required.
  • Ability to walk 2-4 miles per day in rough terrain and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Valid IL Pesticide Operators license, or ability to obtain within one month.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen will be required.

Education and Experience

Undergraduate or Associates Degree in an environmental discipline.

Previous prescribed burn experience with S130 & S190 NWCG training courses, or ability to obtain within 3 months.
