Resident Site Inspector/CAD Designer Technician (Intermediate)

The Water group provides client-focused solutions in planning, design, bidding, and construction administration with treatment plants and linear utility projects. Your Duties: We are seeking a professional and dynamic Resident Site Inspector/Intermediate CAD Technician to join our Water group in Waterloo Ontario. The ideal candidate should possess at least 5 - 10 years of related experience in planning, detailed design and construction services associated with municipal and related infrastructure. As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for:

  • Undertaking resident or part time site review services under the direction of a Project Manager or Senior Technologist; and
  • Preparing engineering drawings for water and wastewater infrastructure and facilities projects;
  • Preparing presentation graphics;
  • Preparation of contract documents and specifications
  • Coordinating projects between Project Managers, CAD staff and others; and
  • Preparing Report figures (drawings).
The successful candidate will coordinate project drawings with Project Managers, CAD staff and others; ensure project needs are met in a timely and effective manner; liaise with drafting coordinators supporting other disciplines; participate in design and preparation of engineering drawings using the appropriate internal and external standards; prepare plan, section, detail, schematic and construction drawings; and ensure all drawings are in accordance with client specific requirements and company procedures. You are required to be proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D .

Your Capabilities and Credentials:
  • Experience and a willingness to undertake resident and part time construction review;
  • Diploma in Architectural Technology, or Computer Aided Design and Drafting Technology, or Civil Engineering Technology;
  • Proficient AutoCAD Civil 3D skills;
  • You possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal, along with excellent interpersonal and organizational abilities and a willingness to work in a team atmosphere;
  • You are highly organized, and demonstrate a flexible approach to work assignments. In addition, previous experience in a computerized office environment using Microsoft Office and other Windows based applications would be considered an asset;
  • Experience in reading and interpreting construction and legal drawings; and
  • Strong organizational skills, along with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and demonstrate a flexible approach to work assignments .

A valid Ontario Driver's Permit and your own vehicle are required for this position.
