Role Description

As a Lead Data Analyst, your role is important to the delivery of innovative digital solutions for our internal business and our clients operating in the fields of water/wastewater, energy and resources, transportation and environmental management. You will work within a specialist Data Analytics team providing expert technology and programming support to the team and projects. You will also input to the data analytics solutions being developed by analysts in our wider engineering consultancy business and provide support as an expert with high levels of data management and programming knowledge. You will be part of our global team, developing new services to budget within our quality and risk management framework.

We are looking for someone that is innovative in nature and likes to ask questions, but also have the business acumen to focus your skills on developing solutions and processes that represent a good business case for development. You will become a key member of our Data Analytics community providing timely, reliable guidance to less experienced members of staff.

Qualifications:

Experience

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience with confirmation of other adequate experience accepted. The ideal candidate will have proven experience developing and reporting analytics insights and have a range of skills including:
• Programming. Python, Ruby, C#
• Data Management, including enterprise-scale databases (SQL Server, open-source dbs) progressing towards Big Data and cloud environments
• Web visualisation skills, including JavaScript, CSS, HTML5
• Business intelligence, including Microsoft Power BI (or equivalent, such as Tableau, Qlik, etc.) and ESRI ArcGIS.

Experience of engineering or environmental data science related analytics would be an advantage but our ideal candidate might also have experience of other industries where advanced analytics are prevalent (e.g. financial services, energy, retail, etc.). It is essential that the candidate can demonstrate a flair for translating an end user's needs into a technology solution as well as blue sky, technology first innovation.

Requirements

The following evidence of competency would strengthen a candidate's application:

  • Relevant degree or post graduate qualifications (e.g. mathematics, statistics)
  • Working towards / obtain technical specialist certification (i.e. Chartered Engineer / IT professional (Chartered Institute for IT))
  • Certifications for IT professionals, e.g.:

o Professional Certificate in Data Analysis

o Artificial Intelligence certifications

o Big Data Certifications

Location

We would require the successful candidate to be located with one of our Data Analytics teams in either Leeds, Cardiff, Redditch or High Wycombe.

Please be prepared for some remote working and travel within this role, with an emphasis on extensive tele-commuting as well to reduce our carbon footprint where practical.
