Intermediate Process-Mechanical Engineer

Your Opportunity As an Intermediate Process-Mechanical Engineer in our Water Business your role is to work with general supervision and direction on average sized water and wastewater projects, and as a team member of a larger project under the guidance of a project manager and/or senior engineer/designer. You will participate in the evaluation, recommendation, specification, installation, commissioning and start-up for engineered systems or products for a project verifying compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards/practices.
Your Key Responsibilities •Responsible for water projects of average complexity/size.
•Evaluate, select, specify, and engineer all process-mechanical systems or products for a project and assuring work is reviewed for overall technical accuracy.
•Engage in the development of designs through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.
•Utilize technologies in development of process-mechanical systems and provide markups for junior engineers/ designers.
•Prepare and revise documentation.
•Lead project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owners, general contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors.
•Participate in client project requirement meetings, value analysis and basic cost estimating.
•Assist upper level staff with developing and managing the project scope, budget, staffing and schedule.
•Lead the preparation and coordination of project specifications and related documents.
•Conduct quality assurance and quality control on projects.
•Assist in the development of new supply and construction standards and specifications for the process mechanical group.
•Participate in constructability reviews.
•Work on multiple projects.
Your Capabilities and Credentials •Requisite knowledge and application of process mechanical design standards and practices.
•General understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
•Strong knowledge of heavy industrial processes, SCADA systems, water and wastewater mechanical systems, means and methods, materials, and industry standards.
•Working knowledge of heavy construction industry practices and safety management strategies.
•Working knowledge of construction contract administration and review of construction contractor's work for contract compliance.
•Experience with contract conflict settlement and contract negotiations.
•Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.
•Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
•Thorough understanding of mechanical engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.
•Advanced oral and written communication skills.
•Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD. Experience with 3D design preferred.
Education and Experience Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering. Licensed Professional Engineer. Minimum of 8 years of experience.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work will include exposure to the elements including inclement weather, hazardous locations, confined space entry, working from heights, and walking rugged terrain.

Out of town overnight assignments will on occasion be required.
