Stantec is seeking qualified candidates for a computer aided drafting & design (CADD) Designer to join our team, preferably in our Salt Lake City, Office. This position requires an individual with experience in the most recent versions of Autodesk AutoCAD Civil 3D. Experience in developing large-scale earthwork grading plans using Civil3D and Carlson Software is desired. The candidate will work closely with a team of engineers to support mining projects. Primary project responsibilities will include developing surfaces, volumetrics, layouts and cross-sections for mine-site infrastructure including waste dumps, tailing storage dams, water dams, diversion channels, borrow pits and quarries. Proficiency at developing complete drawing packages that include civil engineering, earthwork, and volumetric details is required. This position may have additional exposure to preparing structural, instrumentation and mechanical component plans and details as well. The mining group is uniquely situated with a strong blended team of junior to senior-level professionals with great growth potential. Many of the projects this team supports are in international locations including South America, Indonesia, and Australia.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Perform high quality Civil3D Design under the direction of our CAD Manager, engineering team and project managers
- Comply with schedules and budget hours for CAD efforts for a wide variety of mining and industrial projects.
- Develop earthwork grading plans and layouts for mining features as described above using Civil3D and/or Carlson software packages
- Ability to work with remote teams via ProjectWise with minimal oversight.
- Attention to details and strong QA/QC skills.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Experience using advanced Civil 3D and Carlson grading features, corridors, roads, volumetrics and other tools.
- Previous experience working on mining and industrial related projects a plus.
- Previous experience with Civil Site design, Carlson Software, Minesight, ProjectWise, Globalmapper and ArcGIS a plus.
Education and Experience
Degree from a Technical College in CAD with an emphasis in AutoCAD Civil 3D
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience In Autodesk AutoCAD Civil 3D (through 2016 or later).
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
