Stantec UK provides advisory services in sustainability including net zero carbon management, climate change resilience, natural capital and social value to a range of clients. We need to build our team further to ensure we can continue to grow and lead in this important, exciting and rapidly changing area.

Currently we are seeking a Carbon and Sustainability Consultant to join us, ideally in any of our offices across the North. We are excited by the potential growth prospects and this is a good opportunity to join an ambitious team that will provide you with plenty of scope for career progression in the coming years.

This position offers the right person a fantastic opportunity to play a central role in delivering high quality services for water companies as well as for government, energy, industry and other sector clients. You will support or provide specialist input to consultancy projects relating to sustainability, policy and regulation, carbon management, natural capital, climate change and resilience. You will undertake carbon and wider sustainability assessments on a range of projects, so a strong focus on water and wastewater schemes would be preferred but other experience from other sectors would also be considered.

About You

You will hold a relevant degree qualification in engineering, environmental sciences or economics and be working towards Chartered Status.

Proven ability to understand client needs, think creatively and provide pragmatic advice to meet client needs for sustainable solutions - within time and cost constraints. The ability to work across a multidisciplinary team, forge new working relationships with clients and stakeholders. A good understanding of the range of environmental, social, economic and regulatory issues pertinent to sustainable infrastructure

You will also have the following: -

  • Detailed knowledge of environmental legislation and regulation
  • Experience of sustainable development policy, practice and performance measurement
  • Experience and understanding of carbon accounting, principles of PAS2080
  • Understanding of strategic environmental assessment, sustainability appraisal
  • Understanding of climate change impacts, asset risk assessment and adaptation
  • Excellent technical writing skills
