Your Opportunity

This is an opportunity to join our dynamic and rapidly growing fuel system engineering team, which specializes in the design of unique end-user and downstream fuel system infrastructure. The successful candidate will work as a member of the Stantec Fuel System Engineering Team in the Scarborough, ME or Auburn, NH office, as a technical leader focused on ground-based aviation fuel systems and infrastructure at general and commercial airports, airfields, and military facilities.

Your Key Responsibilities

The duties will include both in the office work as well as field work in a variety of outdoor weather conditions.

Office work to include extensive written communication, client and external communication, engineering design and calculations, analysis, CADD (AutoCAD) drafting, BIM drafting (Revit), supervising junior engineers, code/regulatory review and reporting, report writing, review, serving as an Engineer-of-Record, and quality assurance.

Out of office work to include construction observation, site inspection, and compliance inspection. Work with other groups, including environmental, mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering may be included from time to time. Design and technical work on other types of end-user and downstream fuel systems will also be included. Local, regional, and national travel/day trips may be included. Once fully trained, travel up to 25% may be expected.

We are considering a candidate with a broad range of experience and management skills, and qualified candidates may also be considered for project management or other leadership roles.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

We are looking for a strong team player who can communicate effectively with colleagues and clients. The successful candidate will also have a detail orientation, strong writing skills, and strong design skills. Successful candidates will be a hard-working self-starter who has the ability to identify daily needs and assist as necessary to complete client assignments. Experience and competence with AutoCAD, MS Word, and MS Excel required. Strong writing skills essential. Specification writing/review experience and construction observation experience are desirable.

Education and Experience

BS or MS mechanical or electrical engineering or mechanical or electrical engineering technology required. 5-20 years' work experience with the design and engineering of commercial, general, or military aviation fuel systems required. PE license required. The licensure requirement may be waived for exceptionally experienced and qualified candidates. Job title and salary will be commensurate with years and type of experience and degree of licensure.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
