Assistant Project Manager (Thames Water)

Stantec Treatment are looking to strengthen their Operations team with an Assistant Project Manager for our joint venture in Thames Water.
SMB, the joint venture between Skanska, Stantec Treatment and Balfour Beatty, has been selected to deliver one of the largest and most varied water infrastructure improvement programmes in the UK. It will be providing design-and-build solutions for the development and delivery of Thames Water's £2billion to £3billion AMP6 investment programme in a 'super alliance' of industry-leading organisations.
Within this role you will develop experience of leading teams and specialist staff with a proactive view of progressing into a Project Manager role with the ability to lead large framework contracts. You will report directly to the Contracts Manager and duties/responsibilities of the role will include:
Ensure that all Health and Safety procedures are adhered to and that all activities are carried out with due regard to the Health and Safety of all employees, Clients and members of the general public
• To ensure that all individual's competencies are in date
• To ensure all readiness reviews are completed within the programmed dates
• To act at all times in support of achieving an Injury-Free Environment and demonstrate visible, tangible health and safety leadership
• Fully understanding the site safety rules, Our Way Of Working Management System Procedures and processes and ensure that they are implemented
• Management and coordination of the risk register and provide monthly updates. Assist Project Managers to manage early warnings to variations to risk register with the project management team
• Attend Health & Safety, Progress, Employee Forums and Coordination meetings as required
Work with the Project Manager, Health & Safety, Design and Construction teams to report on all near misses / unsafe conditions/ accidents/ incidents
• Assist the Project Manager to ensure any accidents/incidents are investigated and actions implemented

• Understanding of Health and Safety legislation, with specific knowledge of utilities policies, procedures and Engineering Instructions
• Ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders within the Alliance Framework
• Strong problem solving abilities / skills
• Ability to work to tight time scales and prioritise work efficiently
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Creative / innovative approach to problem solving using applied skills
• A good understanding of the operational environment within the construction industry, ideally with previous water treatment experience
