IT Support Lead

We’re looking for an empathetic and self-motivated IT professional to join our team in NYC. Do you love helping people? Are you interested in learning more about practical computer administration? At Stack Overflow, you will be a vital part of our work to create a community and a company where everyone feels welcome to learn, share their knowledge, and build their careers.

During a typical week, you’ll track open tickets, prioritize, and document resolution of end-user requests, and handle the occasional in-person request. You’ll also be guiding your team through task management and prioritization, projects, best practices and Stack Overflow processes.  Though this role is in NYC, we’re a distributed company, so you’ll be working with team members both in our office as well remotely.

You’ll administer both Windows and Mac computers. You’ll also provide support for common issues like password resets, software and hardware issues, access to wifi and printers, etc. Experience with conference and A/V gear (like sound boards and Crestron equipment) is a plus, as you’ll own our in-office setups.  You’ll also act as an escalation point and sounding board for other members of the IT Support team. You’ll document and train the team on policies and procedures while developing best practices and processes along the way.  

What we’re looking for evidence of in your application when you apply:

  • 4-6 years experience in IT Support or IT Operations in a professional environment
  • Experience as a team leader or supervisor 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with emphasis on interpersonal and customer service skills.  
  • Experience fixing  both M operating systems, troubleshooting both hardware and software issues
  • Experience as an administrator with the following services - G Suite for Enterprise, Slack, JAMF, Zoom, JIRA.
  • Experience administering Active Directory / Google Cloud Directory Services
  • Experience creating and tracking KPIs, metrics and goals for the IT Support team 
  • Working knowledge of networking concepts and system administration
  • Evidence of great time-management skills, and comfort with prioritizing and tracking your work to make sure you get things done quickly and on time.

It would also be nice to have:

  • Deployment level knowledge of both Windows and Mac operating systems
  • Administration Experience with Mac OS X  or Windows
  • Comfortable with building  servers in both virtual and physical environments
  • Experience with one or more of the following programming/scripting languages:
    • C#
    • Python
    • Powershell
    • Bash
  • IT related degree or relevant certifications
