Business Development Representative

The Role:

The Business Development Representative will be responsible for sourcing qualified leads and assisting the larger business developing team in a variety of projects and areas.  This person must be self-motivated, analytical, possess strong communication skills, and have a great attitude. This is a a great entry level role to gain experience and skills in sales, negotiation, lead generation, and partnership/project management. We’re looking for an ambitious hard-worker – someone who goes above and beyond!


What you’ll do:

  • Work with the Business Development team to drive the business development cycle from start to finish with focus on market research, sourcing and qualifying leads via phone and email, follow-up, answering questions, assist in closing the sale, and more.
  • Identify and evaluate the opportunity of new publisher partners in all verticals.
  • Understand the StackCommerce platform and the benefits publishers gain by using it.
  • Utilize CRM software to track all pertinent opportunity information and process and support team in forecasting and prioritizing to achieve quarterly goals.
  • Maximize the number of well-qualified partner leads by hunting new business and sourcing opportunities.
  • Assist in implementing processes and structure to scale the Publisher business quickly and efficiently.


About You:

  • 1-2 years of Inside Sales or Sales Development experience in digital/technology space.  Experience at a top-tier start-up, large consumer Internet/e-Commerce or media company is a plus.  Proven track record in successfully developing partnerships a huge plus.
  • Must be highly organized and pick up things quickly, even in a rapidly evolving environment and like to create processes that scale.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit and drive with the ability to work in a fast paced and dynamic organization. Also, strong bias for action and getting things done, both individually and with teams .
  • BA/BS degree from top tier school.  
  • Interest in media + tech industries (and the intersection of the two).
  • Ability to work within a cross-functional team; ability to communicate effectively with a broad spectrum of colleagues.
  • Must be highly organized and pick up things quickly, even in a rapidly evolving environment and like to create processes that scale.


Big Pluses:

  • Proven track record in successfully developing partnerships. Proven success in the online publishing space is a huge plus.
  • Experience at a top-tier start-up, large consumer Internet/eCommerce or media company.
