Manager, Financial Reporting

We are seeking a Manager to join our Financial and Sustainability Reporting team, within Technical Accounting. The Technical Accounting team assesses the company's most complex accounting and reporting matters.

In the role, you will assist business partners in making informed decisions around key commercial matters while maintaining accounting compliance. This is a vital role to the company and will play a key role in developing and driving strategic decisions and improvements within the finance organization. You will contribute towards developing world-class accounting and reporting processes and controls to effectively help prepare the company for its continued future growth.

What You'll Do

  • Analyze accounting and financial reporting considerations for complex accounting and reporting topics including debt and equity transactions, leasing, mergers and acquisitions, segment reporting, among others.
  • Research technical accounting and reporting matters and prepare well-written memoranda and presentations ensuring the appropriate accounting conclusions are reached
  • Assist in the preparation of our regulatory filings including the Company's quarterly SEC filings, local statutory financial statements, and various other ESG filings
  • Collaborate with key partners across the business including FP&A, Legal, HR, other Accounting teams, and Internal Audit, as part of the operational and technical implementation of new agreements or transactions
  • Build and sustain relationships with cross functional teams to ensure complex arrangements are properly and efficiently implemented
  • Help to support external audits and reviews

Who You Are

  • A minimum of 6+ years of experience in public accounting working with SEC registered companies
  • Experience in accounting advisory or transaction services is strongly preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and be an actively licensed CPA or equivalent
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS or US GAAP and SEC reporting and ability to apply know-how of technical accounting and financial reporting standards
  • Experience in technical accounting research and drafting technical accounting position memoranda and presentations
  • Experience working with automated reporting tools (i.e., NetSuite etc.) is a bonus
  • Brings a detail-oriented and hands-on style and the ability to prioritize and deliver results in a fast moving company with a wide variety of strategic initiatives
  • Have excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
  • Spotify has a flat organizational structure, which means that managers are often asked to both manage and individually contribute. Candidates must be motivated, focused, flexible, and be able to work autonomously.

  • This is a hybrid role and will be based in our New York City offices (2 to 3 days a week required).

The United States base range for this position is $103,493-$147,493, plus equity. The benefits available for this position include health insurance, six month paid parental leave, 401(k) retirement plan, 23 paid days off, 13 paid flexible holidays. This range encompasses multiple levels. Leveling is determined during the interview process. Placement in a level depends on relevant work history and interview performance.
