Splunk is seeking a Director of Corporate Reputation to join the corporate communications team. In this role, you will lead the effort to build, enhance and protect Splunk's corporate reputation. You will manage Splunk's communications activities surrounding complex incidents, including company, technical, security, safety, geopolitical, employee and societal issues. You will lead communications for corporate events such as M&A, litigation, investments, and strategic hires. You will operationalize Splunk's crisis and reputation communications function, implementing tools, processes and best practices for crisis preparation and response.
The ideal candidate has extensive corporate communications and issues management experience, excellent judgment and writing skills and the ability to operate with grace under pressure. This role reports to the Senior Director of Public Relations and Executive Communications and is based in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Responsibilities
- Lead global crisis communications planning, strategy and execution to help protect and promote Splunk's corporate reputation.
- Operationalize Splunk's crisis and reputation communications function, implementing news tools, processes and best practices for crisis management.
- Identify and assess major incidents or events, and create effective communications strategies for key internal and external audiences.
- Regularly conduct reputational risk assessments and develop preparedness plans to address potential scenarios.
- Partner closely with employee communications, regional communications and business leaders to create crisis response and preparedness plans.
- Craft a variety of communications materials, including holding statements, blog posts, press releases, employee communications and media statements.
- Keep senior executives informed of key risks, issues and responses.
- Engage with media on sensitive inquiries, or instruct agencies on media tactics.
- Guide spokespeople to engage internal and external audiences appropriately
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of response and adjust as necessary
Requirements
- 15 years experience in communications, with an emphasis on corporate communications.
- Track record of successfully managing communications during times of crisis in a global organization.
- Experience working cross-functionally with government relations, legal, security and other key departments.
- Strong executive presence and ability to influence and work with senior executives.
- Excellent judgment and ability to quickly make sound decisions in the best interest of the company.
- Ability to understand and quickly distill complex information to a variety of technical and non technical audiences
- Strong organizational and multitasking ability, problem-solving skills, and consistent attention to detail
- Ability to operate with grace under pressure and adhere to tight, last-minute deadlines

Base Pay Range
SF Bay Area, Seattle Metro, and New York City Metro Area
Base Pay Range: $190,400 - 261,800 per year
California (excludes SF Bay Area), Washington (excludes Seattle Metro), Washington DC Metro, and Massachusetts
Base Pay Range: $172,800 - 237,600 per year
All other cities and states excluding California, Washington, Massachusetts, New York City Metro Area and Washington DC Metro Area.
Base Pay Range: $156,800 - 215,600 per year
