Office Accountant, Analyst

Position Summary

Spencer Stuart seeks an Office Accountant/Analyst to work directly with the corporate Accounting Department. The Office Accountant/Analyst will assist the Accounting Manager and members of the team in all stages of corporate transactions including, client invoicing, cash receipts and accounts payable. The Accounting Department is also responsible for the analysis and preparation of our internal financial reports.

The Accounting Department is located in the corporate headquarters in Chicago, but supports all 14 consulting offices throughout the United States.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze general ledger accounts
  • Prepare journal entries
  • Maintain balance sheet account reconciliations on a monthly basis
  • Assist in preparation of monthly financial statements
  • Prepare billing worksheets and invoices
  • Respond to office and client inquiries
  • Participate in miscellaneous finance related projects as needed

Candidate Profile

The Office Accountant/Analyst is a results oriented individual with a demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast paced professional environment. He or she is intellectually curious with a desire to learn about Spencer Stuart, the firm's business model and the Accounting department. As a member of the team, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting both the transaction processing and financial reporting functions. This position requires a tremendous attention to detail and a customer service orientation. Candidates must possess a strong sense of urgency and have the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. A team player with a good attitude is essential. The candidate must have strong communication skills and the ability to work well with other departments, colleagues and clients.

  • College graduate
  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting required
  • 1 to 2 years of experience
  • Working in a professional office environment is preferred
  • Computer and software knowledge

Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint and Excel (knowledge of intermediate functions such as VLOOKUP) applications
